Wander Beauty Dualist Matte and Illuminating Concealer Review
This Wander Beauty concealer isn’t perfect. While it does brighten and conceal, it doesn’t do it flawlessly. It can feel heavy and look cakey when the two formulas are layered, and if too much is applied.

Dualist Matte and Illuminating Concealer is a 2-in-1 with lots of promises.
Wander Beauty is all about simplifying your routine and on-the-go products that work. Their Dualist Matte and Illuminating Concealer features two formulas, one that illuminates and one that conceals. Between the two, Wander Beauty promises 10 benefits from covering and brightening, to blurring and even soothing skin. It sounds promising with a lot of benefits, and I’m definitely intrigued by this formula. So, let’s test and review Wander Beauty Dualist Matte and Illuminating Concealer.
Promises vs. Performance: In theory, it sounds great.
Dualist Matte and Illuminating Concealer is a 2-in-1 with 10-in-1 benefits. The double sided concealer features a lightweight illuminating liquid on one side and a full coverage matte cream stick on the other. The formulas promise a tug free application that blend seamlessly. This Wander Beauty concealer claims a creaseproof wear that doesn’t feel heavy or look cakey. As for the 10 benefits, this concealer does everything from covering blemishes and dark circles, brightening, highlighting, contouring, and priming eyelids for eyeshadow. It also blurs fine lines, pores, and texture for a diffused look. It is infused with ingredients such as chamomile flower extract to soothe, green tea extract to protect from free radicals, and sodium hyaluronate to plump skin. There’s a lot this concealer promises.
Review Thoughts: Wander Beauty Dualist Matte and Illuminating Concealer
Wander Beauty says the matte stick and illuminating liquid can be used together or separately. I tested them out together, first applying the liquid to see how much coverage I was able to achieve. It is definitely a more sheer coverage, but does brighten the under eye area well and feel lightweight. The consistency is like a serum and blended out okay with a brush. What I discovered, is the illuminating side of this concealer is actually sparkly. I could see tiny little sparkles everywhere. I then layered the matte cream on top for extra coverage, and this side is thick! It did blend out pretty easily from the warmth of my finger tips. I worked in layers to try to avoid any cakeyness. I got good coverage, but it looked a bit heavy as it wore.
Something to note…
I have the fair shade and it is a bit too yellow for my complexion, so keep that in mind when picking a shade. This was throwing me off when I applied, and it didn’t get better with blending in.
How It Compares: This Wander Beauty product isn’t my favorite.
This concealer is a unique one for sure. It is 2-in-1 liquid illuminating formula on one end and a cream matte formula on the other. The liquid side promises to brighten, while the cream side promises to conceal. I will say those claims do hold up, but the products can look heavy layered together, which you have to do for any coverage. The liquid side doesn’t offer much coverage on it’s own. It did seem to blur and diffuse my under eye area, but it looked pretty heavy. It doesn’t have my favorite wear and I think, for the price, there are better out there.
That being said, I would check out NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. For the same price ($30), there are 30 shades to choose from and it has a formula that is hard to beat. I get a medium to full coverage that is lightweight, doesn’t crease, and isn’t drying. It’s one of my favorites that I continue to use even after all these years.
Milabu Beauty Method: Brighten complexion using Dualist Matte and Illuminating Concealer.
Let’s focus what this concealer does good: brightens. Use it to illuminate areas of your face under or over foundation.
- Swipe the liquid end of the concealer under the eyes, down the nose, under the brown bone, and the tops of your cheeks.
- Blend out with a brush or sponge.
- To get a more glowy highlight, set with a powder highlight or add over top of foundation. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish ($38) gives a gorgeous glow.
