Chanel Beauty makes the iconic luxury brand accessible.
From the luxurious quilted handbags to the iconic Chanel N°5 fragrance, the brand oozes luxury. But, they’ve built their beauty line almost separate from the rest of the brand, going by the ‘welovecoco‘ handle on Instagram. Now, it’s no secret Chanel makeup is still pricey, with a tube of lipstick costing $42. Though, it is much more affordable and accessible than, say, an $8,000 handbag. Besides, who doesn’t want the sleek, black packaging with the iconic interlocking ‘C’ logo sitting atop their vanity?
I’ve tested out several Chanel Beauty products, and this Chanel foundation is not what I was expecting. Available in 35 shades with different undertones. I was expecting a soft matte, full coverage from Ultra Le Teint as the claims suggest. But, what I got was even better: a radiant, evened out coverage that felt lightweight on my skin. I was surprised with how much I enjoyed this luxe foundation. Keep scrolling for all my thoughts.
Promises vs. Performance: This Chanel foundation feels and looks luxe.
Chanel promises their Ultra Le Teint Foundation to provide full coverage with up to 24 hours of wear that “lasts even environmentally strenuous conditions.” They say the liquid formula is buildable for lightweight coverage with a soft matte finish. The formula is enriched with Luminous Perfection soft-focus powder which conceals visible imperfections while illuminating skin for a soft, smooth look. Chanel says it can be applied with fingers or a brush.
I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this Chanel foundation. It has a creamy, but fluid texture that blends easily with a brush and feels lightweight on the skin. I was able to get a solid medium coverage that still allowed the glow of my skincare to shine through. My skin looked blurred and even with just two pumps of foundation. I will say, once it does sit for a few seconds on the skin, it does take a bit more effort to blend out so I would suggest applying in sections.
When testing this foundation, I tested it with a primer on half my face and bare skin on the other. To be honest, I didn’t seem much of a difference in how the foundation wore between the two. My complexion looked even and I had very little settling into fine lines or my pores. I did see the product looking a bit heavier on the dry spots I had on my forehead, but other than that, it wore really beautifully.
Though, like most Chanel products, Ultra Le Teint is heavily fragranced, so use caution if you are sensitive!
Quick Rating Rundown
How It Compares: But is this Chanel foundation better than my beloved Giorgio Armani?
Ultra Le Teint Chanel Foundation is a stunning formula that wears well on the skin. It applies easily, giving a solid medium coverage that brightens and evens the complexion. With or without a primer, my skin looked blurred and I got an all day wear that rivaled my top performing foundation favorites. At the end of the day, I still had an even complexion with minimal settling in my fine lines or separating in my t-zone.
But, I do think there is a better luxury foundation out there. If you’re going to spend over $50 on a foundation, it has to be the best. In my opinion, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk (rated ****4.4) is the best high end foundation. It’s a holy grail product for many because of its unrivaled performance. Luminous Silk provides buildable medium to full coverage that feels lightweight on the skin. It gives a luminous, natural looking complexion that is even, with imperfections concealed and blurred. The wear is unmatched, as it truly looks flawless all day long.

Milabu Beauty Method: You can skip the primer with this Chanel foundation that wears well regardless.
- I love that this foundation lets the natural glow from my skincare peek through. I find I don’t need a primer to extend the longevity. Prep your skin with your morning skincare.
- Start with 1-2 pumps on the back of your hand.
- This foundation can become a bit harder to blend after it sits on the skin, so I recommend working in sections. Swipe the foundation on half your face to begin with.
- Taking your brush (I love the Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face Brush, $52), blend away!
- Apply to the other half of your face and blend.
- If desired, layer foundation for more coverage. I find 1-2 pumps gives me a solid medium coverage.
