Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick: I tried Stila’s cult favorite in ‘Beso.’
For 25 years, Stila has been producing high quality products meant to make the artistry of the runway accessible to our everyday lives. They have crafted a slew of beauty industry favorite cosmetics, two of which are Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner and Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick.
I recently tested Stila’s liquid lip color for the first time. Everything about this hero formula has convinced me that I, too, can be a liquid lipstick person (something I would have strongly doubted possible before now). From the perfect, classic red of the shade Beso to the airy feel and smoothing effects, I’m nearly ready to toss my sticks for this long lasting fluid product. It could be the best liquid lipstick I’ve tried. Let’s jump into Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick Review.
Promises vs. Performance: Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick delivers bold, matte, lasting color.
Stila promises a matte formula that’s creamy, comfortable (weightless, even), and boldly pigmented. Aptly named ‘Stay All Day,’ expect no bleeding or transferring with up to 12 continuous hours of wear. This product should also help soften the lips with its nourishing ingredients like avocado oil and vitamin E.
My Review Thoughts: Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick
Choosing the color Beso from Stila’s excellent range of 28 shades was easy: This dark red lipstick stood out from the rest and beckoned me from the display (the name is also chef’s kiss). Into my cart it went. When I unscrewed the lid and began my application, I noticed how small the applicator tip is. No fancy diamond or pear shapes, which are said to provide perfect precision. Just a long, thin doe foot with a slightly upturned tip. It worked beautifully to outline my pout and helped me into the corners with ease.
One coat of Beso was all I needed to get the pigment payoff I wanted, without a hint of patchiness. The formula dried to an airy, matte texture that felt great on my lips. I loved that I felt no tackiness. And because it was not drying and did not accentuate my lip lines (my usual complaints with liquid lipstick), I was able to hold the gloss and enjoy the shine-free finish of the product on its own. Although I’m sure it’d also look lovely with a shiny topper.
This bold lip look lasted for several hours, from lunch until bedtime, and through two meals and an iced coffee. My straw stayed clean, and the product well in place. This formula is a keeper for me.
How It Compares: Who else thinks it’s the best liquid lipstick?
Stila liquid lipstick has a glowing reputation among beauty enthusiasts and makeup artists alike. Of long lasting lipsticks in its price range, it’s hard to beat. This lipstick provides major lasting power without dryness, flaking, or tackiness, or bleeding. The color is vivid and concentrated, so much so that a little goes a long way. If you’re looking for lightweight and long lasting color performance, look no further. Stay All Day is worthy of your everyday or special occasion needs, because it’s able to outlast the party. In fact, the beauty experts at L’Official name it alongside luxury liquid lipsticks by Dior and Giorgio Armani for its staying power. Byrdie ranks it number one. Further, nearly 3.7 thousand Amazon shoppers give it five stars, many of whom say it’s “the best.”
Milabu Beauty Method: Virginia’s tips for crisping the edges of your saucy red lips.
Don’t be afraid to go bold with Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick. This is one of the mosts user friendly liquid lipstick formulas.
- Prep your lips. I like to exfoliate before wear to ensure I have no extra dryness or flakes. Fresh Sugar Lip Polish ($18) is one of my holy grails for smooth lips.
- Line and fill one quarter of your mouth at a time with the liquid lipstick. Begin by outlining the top lip, from Cupid’s bow to outer corner, then fill in this portion of the lip. Repeat with the three remaining sections. For a good lip liner, check out the iconic Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat ($24).
- Pause to clean the edge of your mouth after filling each fourth. Make a face that tightens your lip by stretching it across your teeth and use a pointed Q-Tip or your finger to clean any areas that aren’t sharp.
- If needed, use a tiny amount of concealer on a short, flat concealer brush to gently trace outside the borders of your lips, especially where your lipstick looks wobbly.
Tip: This product is long lasting, but it will budge with pressure, and it allows a few seconds of playing time before it fully sets. That’s why I find it easy to work with, especially for those intimidated by faster drying, harder setting liquid (not to mention red) lip products.
