This Shiseido foundation refreshes your skin nonstop while wearing it.
Shiseido is a loved, iconic brand that has been around for over 145 years. They pride themselves on introducing new technologies to their products and have dedicated research facilities across the world in China, Thailand, USA, and France. Their commitment to science has allowed them to become an authority on skin and “a leader of basic research in dermatology.” And it doesn’t stop at skincare. They’ve also infused their makeup products with technology to include the Synchro Skin line.
The Synchro Skin line has an exclusive technology called ActiveForce which synchronizes with skin, self-refreshing non stop for a 24 hour just applied look. Lets review Shiseido Synchro Skin Self Refreshing Foundation.
Promises vs. Performance: 24 hours of weightless, smudgeproof wear that is resistant to humidity, transfer, and more.
This Shiseido foundation is, as the name suggests, self-refreshing. This is thanks to their exclusive ActiveForce Technology that protects your finish from sweat, oil, and facial movement. Other technologies in the formula include Responsive Sensory Technology (adapts to skin’s condition, tone, and texture) and Smart Correcting Powder (enhances skin’s surface texture and tone).
Review Thoughts: Shiseido Synchro Skin Self Refreshing Foundation
Synchro Skin Foundation gives a weightless, breathable wear for up to 24 hours. It is free of fragrances and oils so all skin types can enjoy this Shiseido foundation. Humidity resistant, transfer resistant, waterproof, and smudgeproof: Synchro Skin has a lot of claims. In addition, it features SPF 30 to protect skin.
Using a brush blended Synchro Skin into the skin easily and flawlessly. I was able to layer the foundation to achieve a fuller coverage, and it even remained feeling lightweight on the skin. My first impression was that this foundation is really nice. It gave me a really solid coverage that felt comfortable on the skin. My skin looked blurred and even.
How It Compares: A highly rated Shiseido foundation, but is it the #1?

Shiseido Synchro Skin is a lightweight foundation with a solid medium coverage. Featuring an oil free formula, Synchro Skin is suitable for all skin types. It is waterproof, smudgeproof, humidity resistant, and transfer resistant for all day wear. It provides a beautiful, natural finish that blurs and brightens complexion.
Estee Lauder
Let’s compare this Shiseido foundation to the iconic Estée Lauder Double Wear. Both offer a buildable coverage, though Double Wear can be built up to a full coverage while Synchro Skin stops at a medium. Double Wear provides a bit more coverage and those with more imperfections to cover may enjoy it more.
One of the things I personally love about Synchro Skin is that it is fragrance free, while Double Wear is not. Both would be ideal for all skin types. One of the things to consider between the two of these foundations is the finish: Synchro Skin offers a natural finish, while Double Wear is more matte. Other than a few minor differences, both foundations are ones I enjoy in my collection that I think perform well.
And, it’s not just me – The Cut also thinks both of these are some of the best foundations for your skin.
Milabu Beauty Method: A Shiseido foundation that works overtime to keep skin flawless.
- Begin with a primer. For even more skin-refreshing benefits, use the Shiseido Synchro Skin Soft Blurring Primer ($36).
- Start with one pump of the foundation on the back of your hand.
- Stripe the product around your face to evenly distribute.
- Using a foundation brush, begin blending in Synchro Skin. Blend in circular motions. A brush I really like is the Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face Brush ($55).
- I like to go in with a bit more foundation to get coverage in my trouble areas. For me, I add more coverage around my nose and on my cheeks to conceal redness.
- Set with a lightweight powder. Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish ($45) is one of my go-to’s.
