Sephora Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer sounds promising.
Let’s talk about Sephora’s liquid concealer. This concealer is part of the Sephora Collection, which is kind of like if Sephora were to have a drugstore range. Sephora Collection offers high performance products at a lower price point, with their slogan being “really good beauty” at a “really good price.” I tested out their Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer to see if it lives up to its claims. Would I love it, or would it be a miss for me? Let’s review this Sephora Concealer.
Promises vs. Performance: Lightweight, medium coverage that hides imperfections.
Sephora Bright Future Concealer is a lightweight, gel serum blend that provides smooth, undetectable coverage (Sephora.com). The concealer is supposed to quickly correct and cover discoloration under the eyes. It provides a buildable, medium coverage that is said to blend in easily. The formula contains pineapple ceramides to help brighten skin and improve texture.
My Review Thoughts: Sephora Concealer
Retailing for just $14, the claims this concealer makes for the price sound great to me. But, can a concealer be “undetectable” and provide medium coverage? The formula is very lightweight and serumy (as the name suggests!), and it definitely has to be built up to achieve the medium coverage promised. I did have to go back and add more product to my under eye area to get the coverage I wanted. It does layer and blend out nicely with a brush, though!
The wear wasn’t anything spectacular, but I don’t have any major complaints with this concealer. I think, because it is so lightweight, you will go through this concealer quicker than others to achieve the coverage you would get much easier with other concealers.
How It Compares: This isn’t the best drugstore concealer.
During the review process, I didn’t have any major complaints with Sephora concealer. Do I think it is the best concealer out there? Not exactly. It does live up to Sephora’s claims in that it is lightweight and buildable, but it just stops there: nothing more than a medium coverage and it isn’t the longest wearing. It doesn’t outperform its lower priced counterparts or really stand out to me for any reason.
The best value, cheap concealer out there is by Maybelline. Their Instant Age Rewind Concealer continues to be abuzz in the beauty community year after year. It is definitely an iconic product and one of my personal favorites for concealing the under eye area. Brightening with a lightweight feel and diffused finish, and for just $9.99, it’s hard to beat.
At the end of the day, or after this review, I don’t see my self reaching for this Sephora concealer.
Milabu Beauty Method: My favorite way to brighten under eyes.
- Using the doe foot applicator, swipe a bit of concealer towards the inner corner of your under eye area. Apply another swipe at the outer corner, extending upwards towards the tail of your brow.
- Blend out the concealer using a brush. One of my favorites is the Rare Beauty Concealer Brush ($16).
- I always recommend setting the under eye area. My favorite powder for this is the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder ($39).
