- Blends easily
- Doesn’t cake or crease if applied lightly
- Long wearing
- Not as creamy as I hoped for
- Lack of undertones for correct shade match
- Creases with heavier application
- Can look heavy if applied too much

ROSE INC Softlight Luminous Hydrating Concealer provides lightweight, luminous coverage.
Founded by Rosie Huntington-Whitley, ROSE INC is a clean beauty brand powered by science. Having been surrounded by makeup artists, estheticians, haircare experts, she values noncomedogenic formulations that “defy expectations.” Their Softlight Luminous Hydrating Concealer is said to be one that does it all: brighten, blur, and contour skin. I have loved just about every ROSE INC makeup product that I’ve tried, so I was super excited to test out this concealer.
Promises vs. Performance: Longwear with no creasing or caking.
According to their website, Softlight Luminous Hydrating Concealer “brightens, blurs, and contours while nourishing skin.” It is a longwearing formula with a buildable, medium coverage. The formula is infused with skin loving ingredients, such as squalane, protective Vitamin E, and color correcting botanicals. These ingredients help minimize the look of fine lines, redness, and discoloration. The wear is said to be comfortable with no creasing or caking.
When I tested out this concealer, I went in with shade LX 030 (1 out of 20 shades available), which, for the under eye area isn’t as light and brightening as I prefer. But, I made it work! That being said, I wish there were more shade options especially for different skin undertones. For example, my undertones are rosy with neutral tones. To get my perfect shade match, I had to purchase a second shade of concealer which is not ideal.
The formula isn’t as creamy as I thought it would be based on the description, but it blended out easily enough with a brush. Even after it had some time to set down it still was easy to blend and move around. It gave me a nice, natural finish that I really enjoyed. It wasn’t as intense in coverage as I was expecting it to be, but I find this concealer perfect for those lighter, no-makeup makeup days. For not having set the concealer with powder, it was still long-wearing and I had no creasing or caking at the end of the day. I must add a caveat, after trying this concealer multiple times the best result is with a light hand application, otherwise with heavier hand application it can crease, look heavy under the eyes, and can look crepey at the end of the day.
Quick Rating Rundown
:Rose Inc Softlight Concealer
How It Compares: I do enjoy this concealer.
In my opinion, there are many great concealers in the beauty market, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (rated ****4.3) being one of them, which in my opinion is the industry standard. But, ROSE INC Softlight Concealer is a good runner up. It provides natural, lightweight coverage that doesn’t crease or cake with proper application. The formula is blendable, has a nice blurred effect, and wears beautifully. NARS is still the winner due to its incredible performance, brightening properties, and longwearing creamy formula. Because the formula is so creamy makes it easy to blend and work with; it’s lightweight so it feels great on the skin; it’s buildable which makes it hassle free. You can layer this product without worrying it’ll disturb what’s underneath. It has been an industry standard and is continued to be loved by many year after year. Another pro of Radiant Creamy? It comes in a whopping 30 shades versus Softlight coming in just 20. It’s much easier to find your perfect shade with NARS.
If you’re looking for a cleaner ingredient concealer that does perform well, and don’t need super full coverage, I’d check out Softlight Luminous Hydrating Concealer.
Milabu Beauty Method: Blur imperfections with this natural concealer.
- Using the doe foot applicator, swipe the concealer on any areas you want to blur/hide. This includes the under eye area, any redness, and any spots or acne.
- I enjoy using a brush to blend out this concealer. One of my favorites is this one from Rare Beauty ($16).
- If needed, build up the coverage to your desired intensity.
- While the wear of this concealer is good without setting, I always recommend setting any cream products. Kosas Cloud Set Powder ($34) is a great, lightweight option.
