Revlon Illuminance Foundation is a new favorite of mine, and a dupe for Makeup By Mario Surreal Skin… But I think it’s even better.

Will this Revlon Foundation be my favorite drugstore foundation?
It’s no secret that the new SurrealSkin Makeup by Mario Foundation went viral on its release day – after all, its the brand’s first foundation product! In my opinion, the foundation wasn’t as good as the hype had me believe. But, there is another recent foundation launch that did blow me away… And it’s super similar to Makeup by Mario SurrealSkin! Meet the newest Revlon foundation: Illuminance Skin Caring, a radiant foundation that looks and feels like your skin, but better – let’s review it.
Quick Rating Rundown
:Revlon Illuminance™ Skin-Caring
Promises vs. Performance: Healthy, glowy skin.
Illuminance Skin Caring Foundation is the newest addition to the Revlon foundation line-up and i’m exited to review it. This one combines the benefits of makeup and skincare in one, featuring buildable medium coverage and 5% squalane + hyaluronic acid to hydrate skin. It has a lot of bold claims, such as: reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles within 4 weeks, increasing skin elasticity in 4 weeks, as well as reducing appearance of skin roughness in just 4 weeks (with continued wear). In addition, it promises to boost skin’s radiance for a healthy skin glow and blur imperfections.
My Review Thoughts on Revlon Illuminance Skin Caring Foundation
Revlon’s shade range is excellent, with 28 color-true shades that don’t oxidize. The texture has the perfect amount of fluidity for easy application. My preferred application method is with a brush, and I’ve recently discovered this brush from Honest Beauty, which is a dupe for my beloved Bobbi Brown Face Brush ($17 vs $55). It blends easily, instantly providing a solid medium coverage and makes me look glowy in all the right places.
I’m happy to report I get a solid 8 hours of wear with this foundation. I experience minimal settling into pores and lines, as well as no clinging to/exaggerating dry spots, texture, or bumps. After 8 hours, I do notice the foundation starting to break apart on my forehead as my natural oils begin to takeover. But, this is expected with a luminous foundation! For best results, I recommend prepping with a gripping primer and setting with a loose powder.
How It Compares: This Revlon foundation is a Dupe of Makeup by Mario SurrealSkin.
This review would not be complete with out comparing Revlon Illuminance Skin Caring Foundation to top contenders. It’s makeup meets skincare with Revlon Illuminance Skin-Caring Foundation. The formula is infused with 5% squalane and hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate and moisturize, plus is said to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles after just 4 weeks of continuous wear. This is a true buildable medium coverage foundation that gives skin a beautiful, healthy glow without looking oily or greasy.
Oh, and did I mention? This is a great dupe for the viral Makeup By Mario Surreal Skin Foundation… But dare I say it’s better? It applies smoother, offers a bit more coverage, and looks more skin-like on. Plus, it’s cheaper at just $18 instead of $42!
But, how does it compare to other drugstore foundation formulas? I’d rank this one up there with other top performers like L’Oreal Infallible and Wet n Wild Photo Focus Dewy. L’Oreal Infallible is the #1, best drugstore foundation in my opinion for its coverage, finish, and how it wears.
Comparison to Top Performers
The best performing product with radiant skin finish and medium coverage would have to be Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation. It applies and look like a dream on the skin, but it does come at a ultra luxury price point. Another top performer to look into in NARS Light Reflecting Foundation.
Another interesting product to take a look into is actually a skin tint. However, it is very compatible to Revlon skin caring foundation. I’m talking about L’oreal True Match Nude Tinted Serum. It’s another one of those jams in the drugstore category. Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation (the dewy version) is another favorite for glowing skin all day long. However, this one doesn’t wear as great as Revlon Illuminance.
I’ve also included how it compares performance-wise to Makeup by Mario SurrealSkin foundation. I believe it is the perfect dupe to Makeup by Mario SurrealSkin, if not better. See full video here. Check out the foundation comparison rating chart below with all the specs.
