Hailey Beauty Rebelle Foundation transforms to any skin tone. Say, what?
Ever wonder if there’s a color changing makeup? Lucky for you, Hailey Beauty Rebelle Foundation is white in the bottle but transforms to match any skin tone. But first, who is Hailey Beauty? They believe in the beauty of all women, regardless of skin tone, age, culture, and origin. They promise to always offer innovative products, customizable shades, and adaptable formulations that work for women all over the world.
I can’t say I’ve ever tried anything like this, so I was definitely intrigued when I stumbled upon this product. And, before you question it like I did, I tested it on the back of my hand, blended it out, then wiped it off to see what happened. Surprisingly, there was a good amount of pigment. I was intrigued to see what it would be like on my face.
Promises vs. Performance: This is… different.
Hailey Beauty’s Rebelle Foundation is a “revolutionary SPF 15 foundation with a complete solution for your skin.” The formula is said to be fluid, fresh, and light. It offers a 24 hour, heat and sweat resistant wear that is hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic. But, here’s the catch: it only comes in one shade. That’s right, this foundation only comes in one shade. Rebelle Foundation is an innovative micropearl based formula that adapts to all skin tones.
At first, I did not like how this foundation was applying. It is a thicker formula, and it was pilling. But, I think this was possibly in part to the primer I used (Stila One Step). When applying with my fingers or a beauty sponge, I got tiny little spots almost as if I was exfoliating a self tan off. Because of this, I warmed up the product to try and pop the pigments before putting it on my face. Therefore, I feel like this method worked better. The coverage I got was close to that of a CC cream and I couldn’t build it up past that. I actually really liked the finish. Overall, the foundation looked natural and felt super lightweight on my skin.
I was actually impressed by the wear of Rebelle Foundation. By the end of the day, I was a bit shiny on the forehead, but, other than that, it didn’t look half bad. I think the reason it wore well was because it was more of just pigment on my face, rather than coverage. It was more of just a color correcting product to even skin tone. It didn’t feel heavy or cakey, which I really liked. This is one of those products I definitely want to keep playing with to figure out the best ways to wear and apply it. It’s a unique one for sure!
Quick Rating Rundown
How It Compares: There’s really no comparison.
I don’t know how fair it is to compare this poduct to Estée Lauder Double Wear, but I’m going to do it anyway. So, let’s go ahead and state that Rebelle Foundation comes in one universal, tone adapting shade. It is a light texture and feels pretty weightless on the skin. I didn’t find that I was able to build up pigment past a light coverage, which was reminiscent of a CC cream to me (think how BareMinerals Complexion Rescue just evens out your tone without adding a bunch of coverage). But, I was actually impressed with how it wore. I didn’t get cakey or greasy throughout the day, nor did it fade or rub off.
But, Double Wear (rated ***** 4.6) is a holy grail that the world loves. It provides lots of pigment that can give you anywhere from a medium to full coverage. It has the same all day wear, but, because of the pigment, could have the opportunity to settle. It’s a cult classic prestige foundation that, like Rebelle Foundation, woks for anyone since it comes in 55 shades.
What I will leave you with is this: if you want a product that evens out your skin tone without feeling heavy, or maybe you change foundation shades a lot throughout the year, Rebelle Foundation might be worth looking into.

Milabu Beauty Method: The best way to apply Rebelle Foundation.
I found that following the method on Hailey Beauty’s website wasn’t the best for me. Here’s what I did instead to get a better application.
- Start with 1-2 pumps on the back of your hand.
- Using your fingertips, warm up the foundation so that the pigments “pop” and blend together.
- Stripe the foundation across your face for an even application.
- Taking your fingertips, a sponge, or brush begin blending in the foundation to your skin.
- Repeat steps 1-4 as needed until you have your desired coverage.
