One of the things I love about Rare Beauty is their positive brand mission. Put simply, they desire everyone to embrace their uniqueness (or what makes them rare). Selena Gomez says, “I’ve stopped trying to be perfect. I just want to be me.” As Allure explains, Rare Beauty desires beauty lovers to embrace their looks instead of concealing them. Keeping in line with this mission, this brand’s products are meant to enhance your natural beauty. One that does just that is her Positive Light Liquid Luminizer. It’s a weightless, shimmering, dewy makeup product that adds a radiant glow to your already gorgeous skin. Let’s review Rare Beauty Liquid Luminizer.

Promises vs. Performance: This liquid luminizer is stunning.

Even before applying Liquid Luminizer to my skin, I admired the shimmering formula through the clear packaging. I tested two shades: Enchant, a soft pink, and Enlighten, a champagne gold. After swatching them on the back of my hand, I saw how intense these liquid highlighters are. The pearly finish reminded me of Rare Beauty’s Illuminating Primer ($26), just more concentrated.

Rare Beauty’s website lists some great descriptors of this highlighter: Silky, dewy, bright, weightless, and glowy. It’s supposed to layer well over any makeup without disturbing what’s underneath. It should last all day without fading, creasing, or settling into fine lines. And it contains a botanical blend of lotus, gardenia, and white water lily to help soothe, calm, and nourish the skin.

My Review Thoughts: Rare Beauty Liquid Luminizer

I layered this dewy makeup over Rare Beauty’s beautiful Soft Pinch Blushes ($20). I worked on one side of my face at a time, in case the formula set fast. Applying to the top of my cheekbone, I swiped the formula on with the provided doe foot applicator, then blended with my fingertip. Finally, I dabbed a dampened sponge over top to ensure it was fully blended in. After applying, with each turn of my face, the highlighter glowed and glistened. After wearing this makeup all day, it was still beaming.

How It Compares: What’s the best liquid luminizer?

During the review Rare Beauty Liquid Luminizer was truly a please to experiment with. The doe foot applicator makes it easy to apply this liquid highlight exactly where you want a touch of glow. It blends easily with any tool (though I prefer my fingers or a sponge). However, it can set quickly, so I recommend working one side at a time! This liquid highlight is super glowy, but it isn’t glittery like some which I appreciate. It layers well over any products underneath, and my skin stays glowing all day long.

Adding Positive Light Liquid Luminizers to the top of your cheekbones will give your skin a radiant glow that lasts all day. Here are my five application steps. 

1. Work one side at a time, to ensure enough playing time. 
2. Lightly swipe the shimmer onto the top of your cheekbone with the doe foot applicator. 
3. Blend with the tip of your finger, gently bringing the product up towards your temple.
4. Dab a dampened sponge (like the Original Beautyblender, $20) over the product to make sure it’s fully blended in. 
5. Repeat steps 1-4 on the other side of your face.

Tip: Rare Beauty’s website lists some other creative uses. Dab onto your brow bone or the bridge of your nose to give more shimmer. Or, mix into your foundation or concealer for an allover radiant glow.
