NYX Marshmallow Primer Review: This makeup primer should mellow skin.
NYX Marshmellow Primer smells like delicious marshmallows, as the name suggests. It’s also formulated with marshmallow root extract, to smooth skin. But the name also suggests something else. The unique spelling of Marshmellow may perhaps be indicative of this formula’s ability to mellow out skin. Which makes sense, with claims of smoothing, softening, and smoothing skin. But did the NYX Marshmallow Prsimer (as many spell it) live up to its name? Let’s dive into NYX Marshmallow Primer Review.
Promises vs. Performance: A multitasking 10-in-1 face primer that does it all.
NYX website names ten incredible benefits of this face primer. Let’s list them, shall we? This primer claims to smooth, soften, extend makeup wear for 16 hours, hydrate, soothe, even tone, minimize texture, blur lines, add a soft focus, and keep makeup fresh. Wow! That’s a lot of claims. The soft whipped texture dries down transparent.
My Review Thoughts: NYX Marshmallow Primer
During the review and test of NYX Marshmallow Primer, I compared it to the Wet n Wild Glass Correct Primer ($6.49). I smoothed the NYX Marshmallow Primer on the right and the Wet n Wild on the left side of my face. To apply both, I used my fingertips. Then I applied e.l.f. Camo CC Cream ($14) on top and wore it for the whole day.
Immediately after applying to my face, I enjoyed how the NYX Marshmallow Primer felt on my skin. The texture was thick, whipped, and white (like a marshmallow!) and smoothed onto my face easily. This face primer dried down completely clear. After applying the e.l.f. Camo CC Cream, the NYX side looked more even while still having a little glow, while the Wet n Wild side looked extra glowy. I enjoyed how the NYX side looked more; it provided just enough glow and smoothed my skin well.
After the day wear test, both sides were shiny on the forehead and cracked around the chin and mouth area. The NYX primer didn’t extend the makeup wear time or keep everything smooth and fresh. Still, I’m excited to try this face primer with other foundations.
Milabu Beauty Method: How to apply the NYX Marshmallow Primer.
Applying NYX Marshmellow Primer is super easy. Just pump, apply, and smooth!
- Pump. After shaking the bottle, apply one (or less than one) pump of product to your fingertips. A little goes a long way, so a small amount is best.
- Apply. Place dots of product onto your face.
- Smooth. Using your fingertips, smooth the product out with small strokes.
Tip: This primer also comes with a makeup sponge ($9), which you could use to apply instead of your fingers. It’s shaped like a marshmallow. So cute!
