NARS Air Matte Blush elevates your everyday cheek.
Let’s be honest, NARS makes some stunning blush colors. As much as I love the original powder Blush, I’ve been dabbling in cream blush more and more these days. Luckily, NARS responded to demand and made a matte cream blush formula in not only their iconic Orgasm shade, but also some fun new ones (my personal faves are Rush, Darling, and Freedom). What you’ll find with Air Matte is an easy to use, cream blush that gives cheeks a diffused, airbrushed look. It’s long wearing, cream-to-powder finish makes it perfect for all skin types and climates.
Quick Rating Rundown
Promises vs. Performance: A lightweight, natural wash of color.
Air Matte Blush is cream-to-powder formula with a soft-matte finish. NARS promises this cream blush will go on soft, but be buildable to you desired intensity giving a “thrill of color” to cheeks. It’s unique mousse texture feels lightweight on the skin, instantly transforming from cream to velvety powder for a soft, diffused effect. It blurs imperfections, giving a second-skin like finish that is comfortable to wear. The jojoba-gel infused formula promises to glide over skin easily, blending and building for custom color payoff.
This NARS Cream Blush gives a very natural, soft wash of color. To apply, I use the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush (I seriously think this brush is great for everything!), and dab it onto my cheekbones. If you’re looking for a more intense pop of color on your cheeks, you’ll definitely need to apply a few layers. Luckily, Air Matte has a lightweight formula that builds and blends super easily. It doesn’t wear patchy and I never experiencing it accentuating imperfections from dryness and texture, to settling into pores and fine lines. What’s unique about this cream blush is that it is a matte finish, truly giving it that cream-to-powder effect when blended out. Because of this, cheeks look airbrushed and diffused and are ready for a full day of wear. I mean, who’s got time to worry about their blush fading? I know I don’t!
How Nars Air Matte Blush Compares: Do you prefer a squeezy tube or pot?
Nars Air Matte Cream Blush is a winner. The cream-to-powder formula is easy to apply on cheeks for anything from a sheer wash of color to an intense, bold pop. It has a lightweight, moussey formula that layers and blends beautifully. NARS Air Matte Blush is virtually effortless; It’s one of those blushes you can apply without worrying about getting clown cheeks. This blush looks stunning on cheeks all day long without fading, settling, or clinging to imperfections. And, it comes in the cult favorite, iconic ‘Orgasm’ shade. If you love ‘Orgasm,’ you’ll love this.
What is my favorite cream blush, you might ask? ROSE INC Blush Divine is easily one of the best formulas I have ever tried and is one of my holy grails. The creamy formula easily blends into cheeks with fingers or a brush, providing a the most healthy, radiant flush of color. It never accentuates any imperfections, from dryness to texture and never settles into lines or pores. Blush Divine applies beautifully over any base, whether cream or powder, without disrupting the makeup underneath. Who doesn’t love a good dupe?
If you’re looking for a true “dupe” for NARS Air Matte, that would be e.l.f. Putty Blush. These two formulas are astonishingly similar – except for the price. While Air Matte is $30, e.l.f. Putty comes in at just $7 at the drugstore. I do think Air Matte is a bit easier to control in terms of building pigment and is a longer lasting. Another great “dupe” option is Morphe 2 Wondertint Cheek & Lip Mousse.
