Welcome Milk Makeup Pore Eclipse Setting Spray – just in time for summer.
Sweet, sweet summertime is almost here. And with that comes the need for setting sprays that really do aid in extending the longevity of our makeup. Often times we reach for matte makeup sprays hoping it’ll keep our excess oils and shininess at bay. Are these too many attributes to ask for? I don’t think so! Milk Makeup Pore Eclipse is one of the newest matte setting sprays to hit the market. Will it withstand a day of makeup wear, add longevity, and control excess oils?
Quick Rating Rundown
Promises vs. Performance: Will it meet its claims?
Milk Makeup, home to the infamous Hydro Grip Setting Spray, has created Pore Eclipse, a matte setting spray. What does Pore Eclipse promise? Blurred pores, controlled shine, a soft-focus finish, and makeup locked in place for up to 16 hours. The alcohol-free formula is said to be non-drying, non-sticky, and weightless for comfortable, all day wear.
Once your makeup look is complete, spritz on some Milk Makeup Pore Eclipse to lock it in place. This setting spray blurs pores and gives a beautiful soft-focus finish. Despite its matte claims, it still allows the glow of makeup below to peek through, but it controls any excess oils and shininess for a solid 8 hours. It doesn’t quite live up to its longevity claims, but it does hold its own and aid in extending the longevity of some makeup.
One thing to note is that the mister isn’t the best. It can leave spots on the face (a sponge or brush will take care of this), and the nozzle has a tendency to get stuck. Juts make sure to spray about 10 inches from the face to minimize droplets left behind!
How It Compares: Milk Makeup Pore Eclipse is good, but not the best setting spray.
Does Milk Makeup Pore Eclipse do what it promises? Yes. But, is it extraordinary and the best setting spray out there? Not quite. As promised, it blurs pores, controls shine, and provides a soft-focus finish. It’s lightweight, comfortable, and doesn’t dry out skin either. And the benefits just kind of stop there. Pore Eclipse claims to lock. makeup in place for up to 16 hours. While it does keep makeup on for a solid 8 hours, excess oils can peek through and makeup can start moving around/breaking apart. I will say, if you’re looking for a more matte setting spray with a cleaner formula, Pore Eclipse would be a good option to check out.
Comparison To Top Performers
Industry Standard
The most iconic setting spray remains Urban Decay All Nighter. You know the one, housed in the purple spray bottle. All Nighter has its pros and cons. Of course, it’s a classic and does help extend makeup wear time. It has something Urban Decay has patented called ‘Temperature Control Technology,’ which works to lower the temperature of makeup helping keep it locked in place. It really set the bar for how a setting spray should perform.
Best Mattifying
It’s going to be hard for a brand to beat Patrick Starrr On ‘Til Dawn Setting Spray. This stuff locks makeup in place all day long making any look virtually waterproof. On ‘Til Dawn sets my makeup beautifully, ensuring I don’t have to worry about the heat, humidity, or touching making my makeup look fade faster. The spray gives a matte, but not flat, finish that controls my shine and keeps my excess oils at bay.
Best Hydrating
Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Set + Refresh not only sets with its blue agave extract, but provides hydration and soothing benefits via hyaluronic acid, hemp-derived cannabis seed extract, niacinamide, and aloe. This setting spray gives glowy, glass skin, setting without looking dry or matte. It’s also a great refreshing spray (as its name suggests!) for a midday pick-me-up.
