Milk Makeup Lip Color: Full coverage in just one swipe.
Is it just me, or does lipstick just pull the entire look together? I tested out Milk Makeup Lip Color alongside their other products for the Milabu Channel (subscribe here!) and put this lipstick to the test. I wore this lipstick for about 12 hours to really see how it performs. Was it an over performer or an under performer? Let’s review Milk Lip Color Lipstick.
Promises vs. Performance: Can a lipstick be hydrating, matte, and long wearing?
Lip Color from Milk Makeup has some bold claims. According to their website, this lipstick has an ultra-creamy, matte finish that is formulated for comfortable, long wearing color in just one swipe. It features ingredients such as shea butter, coconut oil, and grapeseed oil, which help nourish, hydrate, and soften lips. As with the rest of Milk Makeup products, it is vegan and cruelty free.
My Review Thoughts on Milk Lip Color Lipstick
I picked up a few shades of this lipstick and decided to try out Wifey, a neutral dusty rose. This lipstick went on smooth and provided a natural, matte finish as claimed. But, it isn’t the most long wearing. It did not fully last through eating and drinking. What was left was sort of like a lip liner, lip stain situation. For best results, it would definitely have to be reapplied multiple times throughout the day.
How It Compares: Mac still reigns #1.
As part of the review lets compare Milk Lip Color to top picks. This vegan lipstick comes in several gorgeous shades. It is creamy and glides on really smooth. The formula isn’t as long lasting as I was hoping, fading after eating. It is definitely one of those formulas you would have to reapply throughout the day. My pick for ‘best lipstick’ is the iconic MAC Lipstick. It is a cult favorite that just can’t be beat. There are so many colors (and different finishes!), so you really can achieve any look you want. The wear of MAC lipstick is phenomenal, and it doesn’t dry out the lips as much as Milk Lip color.
Milabu Beauty Method: Top off your look with a fun lip color.
- Prep your lips for application. I recommend applying a hydrating balm. One of my favorites is the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, $22.
- If wanted, first line your lips with a lip liner of a matching shade.
- Apply lipstick, starting in the center of your bottom lip. Work your way towards the corners.
- Next, carefully apply lipstick to your top lip, making sure to follow your outline.
- If desired, top off with a pretty lip gloss! One of my favorites is ILIA Balmy Gloss, $26.
