Milani Eyeshadow Primer: Say goodbye to creasing and hello to all day wear!

If you’re skipping the step of eyeshadow primer, I’m here to tell you: don’t. Eyeshadow primers are an essential step to getting your eye look to last from day to night. They help intensify shadow colors, can neutralize eyelids, and control oil. One of my favorite drugstore eyeshadow primers is from Milani (is it just me, or have they really stepped up their makeup game lately?!). It’s affordable, easy to get your hands on, and it rivals it’s more expensive counterparts. Let’s get into Milani Eyeshadow Primer Review.

Promises vs. Performance: Intensify shadows, prevent fallout, and increase wear time. Can it do it all?

“Oily eyelids are over!” says the product description of this eyeshadow primer. Milani claims their eye primer will not only extend the wear, but intensify shadows, and diminish fallout. It is said to be lightweight and creaseproof. The invisible finish eyelid primer goes on nude before drying down invisibly. It is said to work on all skin tones and never be drying.

My Review Thoughts: Milani Eyeshadow Primer

During the review process there were no complaints from me about Milani Eyeshadow Primer. The creamy formula is easy to apply with just the fingertips. It starts out as a nude color which helps neutralize eyelids before drying down to an invisible finish. I’ve paired this eyelid primer with many different shadows, and it really does prevent creasing and extend wear time. The only claim it does not live up to is preventing fallout. This is usually due to the formula of the eyeshadows itself having a more crumbly formula, but the primer doesn’t help diminish it.

Let’s Review How It Compares: Milani Eyeshadow Primer holds its own.

Affordable and performs? Milani Eyeshadow Primer is a good one. The lightweight, invisible finish helps neutralize eyelids, prepping to hold eyeshadow on all day long. It’s creamy, easy to apply, and resists creasing. It really does hold its own alongside other drugstore eyeshadow primers.

But, is there a better one out there? Drugstore standard is Wet n Wild Photo Focus. It does all of these things but a bit less. However it is a few dollars less as well. If you are looking to save a few bucks, you will not regret Wet n Wild.

On the other hand, I have one more primer to mention. IMO this is the best performing drugstore primer to date. I’m talking about Ulta Beauty Matte Eyeshadow Primer. If you are looking for extra grip for your eyeshadows, but don’t want to spend the money on something like NARS, this is your gal.

“[Wet n Wild Photo Focus’s] creamy, mattifying formula is great for anyone, especially anyone with oily eyelids, who wants to set their eye makeup all day and to get the most color payoff from eyeshadow. It boosts lid brightness to perk up the peepers, but it dries to a universal, colorless tone. Beauty mags from Allure to Teen Vogue sing its praises, and more than 2.3 thousand Amazon shoppers have reviewed it, many of whom agree that it’s the best eyeshadow primer from the drugstore.”

Milabu

Milabu Beauty Method: Lock your eye look in place for all day wear.

  1. Squeeze about a pea sized amount of product onto your ring finger. This should give you enough for both eyelids!
  2. Pick up about half of the product with your other ring finger.
  3. Gently apply each set of product onto your eyelids. Carefully blend out over your entire lid: corner to corner, lash line to brow bone.
  4. Let the product dry for a few seconds.
  5. Now, your lids are primed and ready for any eye look!
