Mented Blush checks most of the boxes.
When it comes to blush, I like a pigmented, yet workable formula that I can build too my desired intensity. I prefer my pressed powder blushes to have a silky powder texture that blends easily, not exaggerating any imperfections from dryness to settling into fine lines. Of course, I like a decent shade range and multiple finishes to pick from, too. Mented Cosmetics Blush checks most all of these boxes and then some.
Quick Rating Rundown
Promises vs. Performance: Blendable, buildable, and pigmented.
Sculpt cheekbones and create a perfect cheek flush with this blush. Mented Cosmetics Blush promises blendable, buildable, pigmented color. The long lasting formula promises to stay put all day, while keeping cheeks nourished with the addition of vitamin E. In addition, the formula is vegan, paraben free, and cruelty free.
Pigmented, blendable, and builable – Mented Cosmetics has got that right about their blush. The pressed powder formula applies easily onto cheeks. Lightly dabbing my brush into the compact gave me more than enough pigment for my cheeks. The powder swirled onto my cheeks effortlessly, without looking patchy or accentuating imperfections such as dryness, texture, lines, or pores. I was able to build up the pigment to my desired intensity without it looking heavy or disrupting the makeup below.
When it comes to the wear, this is your classic power blush. It’s long wearing, but I wouldn’t expect a super long wear over 10 hours or anything like that. It can separate and fade after some time.
How Mented Blush Compares: I wish it had a better shade range.
With Mented Cosmetics Blush, you won’t get any extra benefits. But, you will get a classic, powder blush with a decent application and wear. As Mented promises, it’s blendable, buildable, and pigmented for an easy application that’s customizable. The powder applies smoothly, never looking patchy or accentuating any skin imperfections. The biggest downfall with Mented’s Blush is the shade range. It only has four shades to choose from.
However, there is a blush out there with just about any shade and finish you could ever want: NARS Blush ($32). This pressed powder formula is finely milled, easy to apply, and long wearing. The formula is pigmented, blends easily, and builds to whatever intensity you’re going for. No matter what cheek color and finish you’re going for, you’ll find shades ranging from shimmering peaches to matte mauves in the collection. For me, this tried and true favorite is worth the extra few dollars for its performance.
