An honest Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder review.
If you ask me what my all-time favorite loose powder is, I’d reply with the iconic Laura Mercier Setting Powder. But, it’s not in everyone’s budget and I get that. I’ve tested a lot of setting powders from luxury to prograde to drugstore and have found that there are in fact cheaper powders that work nearly as good as their pricier counterparts. By far the best drugstore setting powder I’ve found is Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder. At $8.49, you can’t beat its performance.
Promises vs. Performance: Does Maybelline Fit Me loose powder do what it should?
Maybelline Fit Me Powder is a mineral-based loose setting powder designed to be the finishing touch for any makeup look. It promises to control shine and smooth skin texture. The powder’s 8 shades have a translucent base with a hint of color to suit a range of skin tones.
Once you’ve finished your makeup look, you’ll often times want to lock it in place with a setting powder. Setting powder helps ensure cream and liquid makeup is set, no longer tacky, and wears longer. If you’re in need of a good drugstore setting powder, Maybelline Fit Me Loose is one of the best. The finely milled powder can be applied with a brush, sponge, or puff to flawlessly set makeup. It controls shine and excess oil, plus extends makeup wear time to a solid 6-8 hours. But, just like any product, it isn’t fully settle proof and can begin settling after the 8 hour mark.
Quick Rating Rundown
How It Compares: Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder is a great drugstore setting powder.
This Maybelline Fit Me loose setting powder is one of my favorites from the drugstore. It’s the one I reach for most as I know I can count on it to wear well and actually help extend the longevity of my makeup looks. I don’t get much excess oil peeking through and it has minimal settling. Pro tip, use a powder puff (the beautyblender puff is great) to press your powder into skin rather than dusting it on for even smoother results.
Really, the only other drugstore loose powder that I can recommend is the elf setting powder, Halo Glow. It’s also finely milled, lightweight, and extends makeup wear time.

Another great drugstore option is the elf Halo Glow Setting Powder. Halo Glow gives an airbrushed finish for a soft glow with no excess shine. The weightless smoothing powder minimizes the look of pores and fine lines. It doesn’t cling to or exaggerate texture, nor does it look cakey or give flashback in photos. This setting powder also gets bonus points for being talc free.
