Makeup by Mario Soft Pop Powder Blush makes cheeks look airbrushed.
Makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic rocked the beauty world when he launched his own line, Makeup By Mario, in 2017. Beauty lovers flocked to the line, praising how good the products are and how well they performed. I’ve tried a few Makeup By Mario’s products and I definitely understand the hype. Blush is one of my favorite products, so, naturally, I quite enjoy Soft Pop Powder Blush. From the silky, effortless formula to the stunning colors and long wear – there’s not much I don’t love about this blush. But, I’ve tried enough products and there’s enough out there on the market that I feel it’s okay if I nitpick just a bit. After all, is there truly a perfect product?
Quick Rating Rundown

Promises vs. Performance: Silky soft, buildable pigment.
Soft Pop Blush features a luxurious, silky formula. It’s infused with micronized clay which works to restorer natural radiance. It promises to glide on and blend in effortlessly on skin. The formula contains a patented polymer that ensues comfortable, long lasting wear. Soft Pop Blush comes in five shades that can be worn alone or layered over the Soft Pop Blush Stick for even more pop.
Don’t be intimidated by how this blush looks online. The colors are definitely more subdued and muted in person (except for the Poppy Pink Shade – that one is vivid!). The blushes are pigmented, yet buildable for a customizable look from sheer to bold. Soft Pop Blush has a silky powder texture that applies easily fo an airbrushed look. Never accentuating imperfections, your cheek color won’t wear patchy and the powder has little to no settling into lines or pores.
How Soft Pop Powder Blush Compares: It’s your classic powder blush.
Cheeks that look airbrushed all day long? Makeup By Mario Soft Pop Powder Blush can do it. It’s a long lasting blush that seamlessly blends over cheeks without accentuating imperfections. The soft, silky powder can be built from a sheer wash of color to a saturated pop. The one negative is, if you’re shopping online, the colors do look more muted in person (with the exception of the bright Poppy Pink shade). Keep that in mind when purchasing online, or visit a Sephora location to swatch before buying!
While I do enjoy using Makeup By Mario’s Soft Pop Powder Blush, I do think it has room for improvement. There could be a larger shade range with multiple finishes to suit more skin tones. Because of this, NARS Blush takes the cake as best blush in the prograde category. It has 26 shades and multiple finishes (matte, shimmer, sheer) to choose from, surely to work for every skin tone out there. It is a finely milled powder that blends easily onto the apples of the cheeks for a healthy flush of color. And, you can’t forget: It’s home to the iconic ‘Orgasm’ shade that everyone loves so much.
