Peachy hues are my absolute favorite, and Makeup by Mario Soft Pop Plumping Blush comes in one that is exactly what I love for summertime. But will the formula live up to my expectations?

Promises vs. Performance: Does it actually plump the cheeks?

Makeup by Mario Plumping Blush Veil is a weightless cream blush balm. It contains hyaluronic acid to plump and hydrate cheeks. The blush veil has pearlescent pigments for a dewy, luminous finish. It can be applied and worn a few different ways, both on top of or under powders. For a monochromatic look, dab onto lips.

I hoped I would love the Makeup by Mario Soft Pop Plumping Blush Veil from the moment I took it out of the box and swatched it. The formula feel almost nonexistent and it gives the perfect flush of color. It has a sheer, buildable formula that becomes one with the skin. With a brush, you can get a bit more pigment pay off but this isn’t going to be your most pigmented blush ever.

Because it has a balmy formula with dewy finish, the formula can exaggerate texture, lines, and pores. It’s not too bad, but just be aware it can exaggerate imperfections. It also doesn’t have the longest wear when not set. I’d give it a solid 5-6 hours without fading when not set. When set and/or paired with a powder blush, you can expect a longer wear.

The Makeup by Mario Plumping Blush Veil has definitely made it on my list of favorite launches of 2023. Not only are the colors stunning, but the formula is too. It has a unique balmy texture that is almost undetectable on the skin. The formula really does become one with the skin creating a lit-from-within luminous glow. Now, I love blush (especially cream bush!), so let’s see how it compares to some of my other favorites.
