MAC Gigablack Mascara is great for bottom lashes.
Is it just me, or is everyone coming out with a tubing mascara these days? MAC has joined in with their Extended Play Gigablalck mascara, which boasts lightweight, long wear, easy removal claims. It’s supposed to lift, define, and lengthen lashes – top or bottom – but I have some thoughts about this mascara. While it isn’t my favorite daily wear mascara for top lashes, I think it is an amazing bottom lash mascara.
Promises vs. Performance: Will it wear a full 16 hours?
MAC Gigablack Mascara is described as a “breakthrough” because of its lightweight, smudge proof formula. It promises to define, lift, and length all lashes, from short to long, thanks to its petite, grippy brush style. The formula is ophthalmologist tested and safe for contact lens wearers. MAC promises 16 hours of sweat and humidity resistant, flake free wear. But, when you’re ready to take it off, Gigablack Mascara removes easily with just warm water thanks to its innovative thermal-sensitive technology.
I love a good tubing mascara, especially for my bottom lashes because they wear all day without flaking, smudging, or transferring. MAC Gigablack Mascara lengthens and defines lashes, but that’s about it. It doesn’t give me any ounce of volume, which is something I at least like a little of. Plus, the shape and size of the brush makes it difficult to evenly coat top lashes. For my top lashes, it just doesn’t have that oomph I look for in a mascara. But, it is a phenomenal bottom lash mascara because of the brush size and long wear formula.
Quick Rating Rundown
How It Compares: I love MAC Gigablack Mascara for my bottom lashes, but is that it?
My favorite use for MAC Extended Play Gigablack Mascara is for my bottom lashes. It separates and defines lashes for a long, flake free and smudge proof wear. The petite brush reaches inner corners and short lashes easily. And, what this really makes it great for is bottom lashes. The small wand is easy to control, and the flake free, smudge proof formula makes it the perfect bottom lash mascara. I’ve got to say, I love a tubing mascara for my bottom lashes especially, but I can’t justify spending $26 just for a bottom lash mascara.
Let’s compare to one of my favorite mascaras of all time: Lancome Lash Idole (rated ****4.4). Idole gives my lashes a false lash look without the falsies and applies beautifully. I love this formula because it does a little bit of everything: volumizes, lengthens, curls, and defines. It does all of this while having a long wear with minimal smudging/transfer or flaking.
