L’Oréal Voluminous: The best eyelash primer for lift, length, and volume.
Of all types of makeup primer, something for the lashes is what I use most often. Other kinds of primer can have undesired effects. (I don’t want heavy looking foundation, no matter how long it lasts!) But lash primer is all gain without the pain in the neck. It can make thin lashes look thicker, or take medium to full lashes to new extremes. One of my favorites? L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Primer. It really makes the most of any lash density and whatever mascara I use. Just a coat or two builds exceptional length and volume, and it even helps to give my eyelashes some lift, which is everything they need but pigment. This lash primer makes the job easy for what comes next: You’re welcome, mascara. Let’s dive into Loreal Voluminous Lash Primer Review.
Promises vs. Performance: L’Oréal Voluminous brings the drama.
I have fair colored eyelashes that are hard to see when they’re bare. The transformation I notice when my eyes are dressed in full, fluttery, black lashes is so satisfying! Of course mascara is one way to get there, as is a great pair of falsies. But eyelash primer is the fastest route I’ve found. It may seem counterintuitive that an extra step in my beauty routine makes quicker work of anything, but trust me. When my mascara has something to cling to, I need less coats.
My Review Thoughts: Loreal Voluminous Lash Primer
I’ve been using Voluminous primer for a long time now and have yet to find a mascara that it doesn’t wear with beautifully, just as L’Oréal’s website, which calls this the “perfect pair to your favorite mascara,” claims. Other than the promise of its universal compatibility, the product webpage boasts (twice) of this primer’s power to build “dramatic volume and length.” True, again. It applies easily, with one coat creating noticeable impact and two coats dialing up the drama. I reserve double layers for when I wear flashier eyeliner, like cat eye makeup or winged liner. Otherwise, a single swipe provides ample lash enhancement, like thickness, length, and lift.
L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Primer is also said to condition lashes over time, making them “soft and nourished,” which isn’t something one can usually expect from mascara alone. Perhaps the conditioning benefit can be attributed to the jojoba oil in the formula. Yet another good reason to keep this primer in my regular eye makeup routine will be to gauge whether it improves my lashes with continuous wear. I’ll keep you posted!
Let’s Review How It Compares: Why Loreal Voluminous Lash is the best eyelash primer from the drugstore.
Along with the lash building effects you get with L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Primer, there are more practical benefits to enjoy. Anyone who wants to avoid mascara flaking or smudging should check this out. A Byrdie editor agrees, it’s the drugstore’s best primer. And it’s my secret weapon for extra lash lift, length, separation, volume, and even conditioning. I love how lightweight and effective this primer is. For all the great lash days it has given me, I think it’s earned a permanent home in my makeup bag.
Milabu Beauty Method: Using Voluminous Lash Primer to build volume and length.
Two coats of this primer take me to lash nirvana, where they’re better than I ever imagined.
- Apply Voluminous Lash Primer to the tips of your eyelashes using the end of the spoolie and gentle back and forth strokes. This will elongate your lashes.
- Apply the primer from your lash roots to tips with the side of the spoolie, combing the product through the lashes by swiping upward. This will elevate and separate your lashes.
- Allow the primer dry for a few seconds, then repeat Steps 1 to 3.
- Follow with one to two coats of your favorite mascara. There really is no wrong choice here, because this primer works with anything.
