Will L’Oreal Age Perfect Concealer check all the boxes?

I want my under eye concealer to do exactly what this one promises: Minimize the appearance of dark circles, brighten, and have minimal settling. If you’ve tried a concealer or two, you know how hard it is to find one that does it all! A long time favorite of mine is NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, for its lightweight feel, radiant finish, buildable coverage, and beautiful wear. I’ve seen some talk that Age Perfect is a dupe for Radiant Creamy, but, I’m going to be honest. If it’s going to be a NARS dupe, it’s gotta perform.

Promises vs. Performance: Radiant, illuminated skin.

L’Oreal Age Perfect Concealer illuminates and hydrates skin with its infusion of ‘Hydrating Serum’ and glycerin. This concealer brightens under eyes, minimizing imperfections and dark circles. L’Oreal promises Age Perfect won’t settle into fine lines, and suggest blending with the fingertips for best results.

The L’Oreal Age Perfect line is not only perfect for mature skin, but all skin can benefit from its hydrating, age-defying formulas. And, Age Perfect Concealer is no different. It blends easily with the fingertips, instantly minimizing dark circles for a brightened, wide-awake look. I wouldn’t call this concealer full coverage, but the brightening aspect is really where it shines. It almost has this light reflecting property that draws attention away from the darkness under eyes. If blended with the fingers, I get a light coverage, however, using a brush allows me to get closer to a medium coverage.

This isn’t your longest wearing, life proof concealer made for 10+ hours of flawless wear. Age Perfect does wear well for the majority of the day, mostly thanks to its fluid, stretchy formula that moves with the skin. This means it resists settling and creasing pretty well on its own. However, for best results, I recommend setting with a loose powder to minimize settling and creasing even more. Coty Airspun ($5.79) works great for this! Check out my list of top concealers from the drugstore (rated ****4.0+) that I believe out-rate this one.

How It Compares: L’Oreal Age Perfect Concealer is more of a brightener than a concealer.

If bright under eyes on a budget are what you’re going for, L’Oreal Age Perfect Concealer fits the bill. It has a lightweight texture and feel that provides natural coverage. Because of its texture and fluid, stretchy formula, Age Perfect resists creasing and settling. However, it can still get stuck in fine lines and I recommend setting with a powder to minimize. I wouldn’t reach for this concealer when I need an all day, 8-10+ hour wear, but, for those natural days it will do the trick.

In my opinion, there’s many concealers at the drugstore that perform well for specific uses. While Maybelline Instant Age Rewind (rated ****4.1) is iconic and great for dark circles, it isn’t the best for concealing imperfections like blemishes and redness. The Milabu Team has put together a list of our favorite, must try drugstore concealers, broken down by what they’re good for. It includes favorites like the e.l.f. Camo Concealer, Colourpop No Filter, and newcomers like NYX Bare With Me.
