Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free is no-makeup makeup with a natural matte finish.

If you’ve been in the market for a tinted moisturizer, I’m sure Laura Mercier has been on your list. Among the lineup of Laura Mercier tinted moisturizers, there is a natural, luminous, and oil free version. In this review, we’re going to focus on specifically on the oil free version, which promises a demi-matte finish with comfortable shine and oil control. While this sounds best suited for oily skin, I was thinking it would be great for summertime, hotter weather. And, I was right.

Promises vs. Performance: Will I love this cult-favorite Laura Mercier product?

The oil free version of Laura Mercier’s coveted Tinted Moisturizer promises all day comfortable shine control. The formula is infused with oil absorbing powders to control excess shine, keeping you grease free. In addition, there’s SPF 20, plus ingredients like licorice root extract help sooth irritated or troubled skin while vitamin E helps protect from environmental stressors. This tinted moisturizer has a natural, demi-matte finish that provides a soft-focus look. It gives skin sheer, buildable coverage for even, mistake-proof coverage.

Like most skin tints, Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free is easy to apply with simply the fingers, a brush, or a beauty sponge. With the fingers you’ll get the sheerest application, but it still gives enough coverage to even out the skin and blur imperfections. Of course, a brush will provide a tad more coverage, but you won’t get full glam coverage with this face base. And, there’s no pilling when applied over SPF or a primer either.

What’s great about this tinted moisturizer is that it works for all skin types and provides an even canvas for an everyday makeup look. Other complexion enhancers apply easily over top without lifting the face base or looking patchy. Though tinted moisturizer is oil free and does last decent on its own, I recommend setting if your skin is oily or you’ll be in more humid conditions. I’m pretty impressed for its wear considering it has no long wear claims and is simply a tinted moisturizer.

Our Rating Criteria

How It Compares: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer is a cult favorite for a reason.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer is a classic, cult favorite formula for a reason. No matter the finish you opt for, you can expect your typical tinted moisturizer coverage and longevity: sheer to light with about a 6 hour wear. Now, this oil free version gives a bit more shine and oil control than the others which makes it perfect for those with oilier skin or even just summertime wear. The formula is lightweight and has minimal settling, creasing, or accentuating imperfections from application to removal. It’s soft matte finish helps blur imperfections and pores, too. While this isn’t my most reach reached for skin tint (I mean, let’s just look at all the new launches in 2022 alone!), it’s an oldie, but a goodie.

So, what is my most reached for skin tint? To be honest, I keep them on rotation and wear multiple a week. My favorites include best sellers like Fenty Eaze Drop, caliray Freedreaming, and L’Oreal Hyaluronic Tinted Serum. Because there’s so many skin tints on the market nowadays, the Milabu team compiled a list of our favorites for specific uses, from fullest coverage to best SPF to most matte. Check out the list here.

I do want to mention how Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free stacks up to our standard cream skin tint, IT Cosmetics CC+. They’re similar in some ways, providing skincare benefits for an even complexion, but they also differ pretty drastically. The IT Cosmetics CC cream can look heavy, settle, and cling to imperfections, while Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer has a lighter look, resists settling, and doesn’t accentuate imperfections.
