Our Rating Criteria

LA Girl Concealer ‘HD Pro’ has so many uses.

Who doesn’t love a universal product?! Well, this LA Girl concealer is just that. HD PRO. Conceal is marketed as a concealer, but has an extensive shade range that allows it to work as concealer, contour, highlight, and even color corrector. I love an affordable product that is good at what it does and more. At $5, HD PRO. Conceal is affordable to have multiple shades for multiple uses. And, not only is it good at concealing, but it’s good at everything else, too.

Promises vs. Performance: LA Girl claims a crease resistant, all day wear – let’s see!

LA Girl calls HD PRO.Conceal is the “holy grail of concealers.” Not only does it come in 30 concealer shades, but it also comes in 10 color correcting shades and 3 highlighting shades. This LA Girl concealer has a creamy, lightweight texture for natural, full coverage. It claims a “barely there” feel with its all day, crease resistant wear. The packaging comes with a built-in, brush tip to use to apply directly to the face. Not only is it great at camouflaging under eye darkness, reducing redness, and eliminating hyperpigmentation, PRO. Conceal can also be used to contour and highlight the face. It is ideal for all skin types, and is cruelty free plus fragrance free.

Before we dive into the performance, I want to call out the impressive shade range of this $5 drugstore concealer. Not only does it come in an incredible 30 concealer shades, but it also comes in 10 color correcting shades and 3 highlighting shades. Dare I say this is the most extensive shade range at the drugstore? But, this is only a piece of what makes LA Girl HD PRO.Conceal so great.

HD PRO. Conceal provides buildable light to medium coverage, concealing imperfections such as dark circles, redness, and acne. It has a lightweight, creamy texture that allows it to be built up without feeling or looking too heavy. I will say, I wish the applicator came without the brush tip, as I think it would be better in just a plain ol’ squeezy tube. But, aside from this flaw, the concealer is easy to apply, blending out effortlessly with a brush or the fingers (I prefer a brush). I don’t find this concealer to have the longest wear (at least on my skin type). It can settle, crease, and look crepey under the eyes. It’s one you’ll definitely want to prep with an eye cream!

How It Compares: If you want versatility, this LA Girl concealer delivers.

If you’re looking for a product that can do it all, meet LA Girl HD PRO.Conceal. This product can be used to conceal, color correct, and even contour/highlight the face! It has an incredible shade range, with 30 concealer shades, 10 color correctors, and 3 for highlighting. Its ultra creamy texture and lightweight feel make it perfect to use anywhere on the face. It blends easily with the fingers or brush (I recommend a brush!), effortlessly concealing imperfections. The wear of this LA Girl concealer isn’t the best I’ve come across. Depending on your skin type, you may find it to be drying. It can also settle, crease, and look crepey. Definitely prep with an eye cream and set with a powder!

While this is one of the best concealers at the drugstore, there are so many other stellar formulas. Truly, it comes down to the look you’re going for. When it comes to concealing dark circles, the iconic Maybelline Instant Age Rewind (rated ****4.1) is my #1 pick for brightening and hiding under eye darkness. If a full coverage concealer is what you’re looking for, the e.l.f. Camo Concealers (the hydrating formula is my personal fave) will provide it with the smallest amount of product. And, when it comes to my newest can’t-live-without concealer at the drugstore, that would be NYX Bare With Me Serum (rated ****4.3), which is provides lightweight, dewy full coverage that lasts all day.

Milabu Beauty Method: Use HD PRO.Conceal to cover imperfections, contour, and highlight.

I love that this concealer is affordable and versatile. At $5, it only makes sense to pick up multiple shades. For concealer, I pick up about half a shade lighter than my skin tone. I love the green shade for color correcting the redness on my cheeks. Then, for contouring I go up 5-6 shades from my concealer color. To highlight, I love the champagne highlighter shade. You can even mix it in with your concealer and contour shades for some added shimmer!

If you’re in need of a good concealer brush, I love this one from Rare Beauty. Its shape mimics applying with your fingertip, and the dense bristles lend to a near flawless application. And, at $16, its a steal!
