Overview

What I like about Invisible Touch from Kjaer Weis is the glow it gives my skin. It applies easily and is packed with skin-loving ingredients. Though, the wear did fall short for me.

Our Rating Criteria

Kjear Weis is a fully organic, luxury makeup line that promises high performing products.

Kjaer Weis created Invisible Touch Liquid Foundation in response to years of consumer demand. The brand, created by Danish-born makeup artist Kirsten Kjaer Weis, prides itself on being a high performance, luxury brand that is both organic and sustainable. According to them, makeup should work and work with your skin, not against it. Several products have won awards, from their cream blush winning a Byrdie Eco Award to several Glamour Clean and Sustainable Awards for best brow product, best eye balm, and, of course, best foundation.

I was so excited to test out a full face of Kjaer Weis makeup. For now, we’re going to chat about how their Invisible Touch Liquid Foundation performed for me. Fun fact: I think it smells just like Big Red gum!

Promises vs. Performance: How well can an organic foundation perform?

Invisible Touch Liquid Foundation is “a serum-like formula” that gives a natural to luminous glow depending on how much you apply. For a fresh, luminous glow: apply 1-2 drops. For medium to full coverage, build to get a natural, smooth complexion. This foundation does promise to be long lasting along with hydrating and comfortable. It includes a plethora of soothing and hydrating natural, organic ingredients, such as chamomile water, hyaluronic acid, cold pressed oils, and natural waxes. In addition, it includes a Kjaer Weis exclusive called Dioscorea Batatas, known as the “Roof of Light,” which promotes radiance and luminosity. The formula even includes something often referred to as ‘nature’s botox,’ or Achmella Spilanthes flower extract. Finally, the formula is suited for all skin types and free of parabens, talc, gluten, and synthetic fragrances to name a few.

The texture of this foundation is interesting. At first, it’s liquidy and serum-like, but upon touching it, it feels very mousse-like. I applied with a brush and it applied very evenly with no splotchiness or patchiness. Though, Kjaer Weis does recommend a brush or fingers! I would say I got a light-medium coverage, but I was super happy with how that looked. It gave my skin a natural finish where I could still see my actual skin peeking through. Very skin-like, very pretty, and very lightweight!

I don’t love love it. But I also don’t hate it.

To be honest, I’m pretty split on how I feel about Invisible Touch Liquid Foundation. I did a one-to-one wear test with their Cream Foundation also, just to see which performed better (and, I must say, I actually liked the cream better!). My wear test lasted just over 12 hours and I can’t say this foundation has that much longevity. I did get shiny on my forehead, which is nothing out of the norm for me. I didn’t notice any major breaking apart or settling, which I was super happy about. For how long I wore this organic foundation, it still looked pretty decent on my skin. I just can’t say I loved it. I have several other foundations I love more that give me the same effect.

Our Rating Criteria

How It Compares: Kjaer Weis is a solid organic option.

I will say, this luxury foundation has some pretty great ingredients, especially for the price point ($48). It is 100% certified organic and full of skin loving ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, chamomile water, rosehip oil, and mimosa flower. It feels lightweight on the skin and made my complexion look smooth and even. I loved that it didn’t feel like I was wearing a mask and I could still see my natural skin peeking through. During my wear test, I didn’t have huge red flags with the longevity: I had little to no settling, separating, fading, or dullness. I did get a bit shiny on my forehead, but that is something that happens regardless of my foundation. I think this formula is beautiful for the first few hours of wear, but if you’re wanting a foundation to keep you flawlessly glam all night long, this isn’t it.

Compared to Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk (rated ****4.4) (my holy grail!), there are some obvious differences, such as the formulations and ingredients, but there are some similarities. Both offer a buildable coverage with a radiant finish. The finish is pretty similar with both, and they each give me that skin like finish. Luminous Silk is longer wearing and doesn’t loose its “sparkle,” if you will, but instead looks flawless all day and night. It is a bit pricier at $65 a bottle, but it is one product I will never go without in my collection.

Milabu Beauty Method: Preparation is key.

Kjaer Weis says prepping your skin is essential for a flawless, long lasting look, and I agree. Here’s my tips for prepping skin for your best foundation application yet.

  1. Begin with morning skincare. I like using a liquid AHA exfoliant to balance my skin. Summer Fridays Soft Reset ($56) is a current fave of mine. Next, I like to go in with some vitamin C and a lightweight moisturizer. I have been loving Naturium’s Vitamin C Super Serum ($25) and Niacinamide Gel Cream ($20).
  2. Let your skincare sink in for a few minutes. Your skin should feel dry and firm, not sticky.
  3. I don’t love primers on my skin and don’t find they make a difference if my skin is properly prepped. However, if you wish to apply a primer, do so now.
  4. Start with 1-2 drops of foundation on the back of your hand. I like to warm it up with my fingertips before swiping dots across my face. Kjaer Weis recommends working in light layers as the coverage is buildable.
  5. My preferred application method is using a brush. Bobbi Brown’s Full Coverage Face Brush ($52) works well with any foundation formula.
  6. Build coverage as desired by adding just 1-2 drops at a time.
  7. Your final step is locking it all in place. I enjoy pairing a setting spray with more radiant products. Hourglass Veil Soft Focus ($48) is a gorgeous formula that also helps extend wear time.
