Our Rating Criteria

It’s no wonder why Cream Foundation from Kjaer Weis is award winning. It’s really good.

With nothing but rave reviews on the brand’s website and Nordstrom, I embarked on my own journey to test out Cream Foundation from Kjaer Weis. I was a bit apprehensive when first applying it, but I was quickly proved wrong by this award winning foundation. For me, this is a first. I typically don’t love how cream foundations work with my skin. Usually they look cakey, feel heavy on, and don’t wear well throughout the day. But, not this one.

Emma Watson has been a fan of it for years, plus it’s won numerous awards, including Best Clean Cream Foundation from Byrdie. I mean, if Emma Watson loves it, it must be good right?! Kidding (kind of). But, I am joining them both in saying this foundation is good.

Promises vs. Performance: The less claims the better, right?

Kjaer Weis actually doesn’t make too many claims about Cream Foundation. Simply put, Cream Foundation is a multitasker that “covers, conceals, and everything in between.” It promises lightweight, buildable medium to full coverage, and a semi-matte finish. Like most of the brand’s products, it is certified organic, suitable even for sensitive skin. The formula contains key ingredients such as organic coconut oil (soothing with anti aging and antimicrobial properties), sweet almond seed oil (moisturizing), and sunflower seed oil (protects against environmental stressors, tightens, and firms). Kjaer Weis does state that Cream Foundation performs best on well moisturized skin.

As suggested, I prepped my skin with plenty of hydration before applying. I applied Cream Foundation using a dense foundation brush (currently loving this one from Rare Beauty!). At first, it didn’t seem like I had picked up any product at all, but, it did pick up some since pigment was depositing onto my cheek. The consistency definitely wasn’t as creamy as I thought it would be yet it still blended out easily. With very little product, I was able to achieve the medium-full coverage Kjaer Weis promised. I was actually really loving how Cream Foundation sat on my skin. It seemed to really melt in and become one with my skin, which I loved!

Kjaer Weis nailed it!

I put this foundation to the longevity test with wearing it for over 12 hours! And, I was still really happy with the way it looked. I actually compared Cream Foundation one-to-one with their Invisible Touch Liquid Foundation, and, I must say, I enjoyed the performance of this one much more. It wore very evenly on the face and still looked very skin like. It still looked melted int my skin. I’ve got to say, I’m impressed that it looked better as it wore and really became one with the skin. I could see a bit of wear around my nose and mouth, and my forehead was a tad shiny. The only other thing I will say is it did cling to a few dry patches across my face as my skin lost moisture throughout the day, however, this isn’t surprising since Kjaer Weis does say moisturized skin is essential. I’m super excited to keep this foundation in my rotation.

Our Rating Criteria

How It Compares: Kjaer Weis makes a solid organic cream foundation.

I can’t believe I’m saying it, but I really enjoyed this cream foundation! I’m usually not a fan of them as they tend to look cakey, feel heavy, and not wear well on the skin. This one did the opposite. It gave a flawless, skin like finish that felt very lightweight. It really seemed to melt in and become one with the skin instead f juts sit on top. Though it isn’t 12+ hours long lasting, it does wear really beautifully. In fact, I liked it better the more it sat on my skin. The only issues I had with wear was a bit of shine on my forehead as well as some wear around my nose and mouth. And, it did cling to a few of my drier areas. Overall, this is a really solid cream foundation in luxury beauty. I love the ingredients and skincare benefits, too. Another cream foundation worth checking out around this price point is Patrick Ta’s Major Skin Creme Foundation (rated ****4.2).

Milabu Beauty Method: As Kjaer Weis recommends, prep with all the hydration!

  1. First, we’re going to moisturize. Drunk Elephant Protini ($68) is a great daytime moisturizer. It’s lightweight, but still packs a punch with hydration and other benefits.
  2. Next, apply a primer. RMS “Re” Evolve Radiance Locking Hydrating Primer ($40) is one I enjoy since it helps lock in my skincare underneath while also gripping makeup for an all day wear.
  3. Let both of these soak in for a few minutes. Your skin should feel soft and dry, not tacky.
  4. Dip your foundation brush (I enjoy using Rare Beauty’s, $28) into the compact.
  5. Apply the foundation to your face using swiping motions. To build coverage in specific areas, use tapping motions to press it into your skin.
  6. Lock everything in place with a setting spray. I love how Hourglass Veil Soft Focus ($48) keeps my complexion looking natural and glowy, but still extends the life of my makeup.
