ILIA True Skin Serum Concealer hides dark circles without being heavy.
What concealer promises promises to have creaseless, lightweight coverage that seamlessly blends to erase imperfections? ILIA True Skin Serum Concealer claims to do that and more. It has over 200 five star reviews on Sephora’s website and over 51,000 people have it on their loves list (wow!). It has a decent following, especially in the natural beauty world, boasting a 2020 win of Best Clean Concealer from Glamour Magazine. This concealer is up there with the luxury pricing ($30!) of other top performers, such as Hourglass, Dior, and Nars. It has some high promises and expectations to live up to if it’s going to be in the running against the iconic NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer.
So, how did it do?
Promises vs. Performance: I definitely look less tired!
This concealer promises to be lightweight, brightening, and smoothing on the skin, according to ILIA’s website. Over time, it is said to improve the skin’s appearance with the help of vitamin C. True Skin Serum Concealer gives a medium, featherweight coverage that is supposed to blend into the skin seamlessly. It is said to reduce the appearance of dark circles, discoloration, and blemishes. ILIA Concealer is both vegan and cruelty free.
Immediately upon applying this concealer, my under eyes look brightened and lifted. It blends out really well with a brush or the fingers. I feel like it makes me look less tired, which is always appreciated – thanks vitamin C! It provides a decent amount of coverage, though I do find I need to add a second layer to get the coverage I really want out of a concealer (I prefer a solid medium coverage). The formula is fairly crease-resistant, though I do recommend setting it with a powder to prevent settling and creasing as much as possible. I find this ILIA concealer wears pretty well for 6-8 hours, which is what I expect out of a concealer of this type.
This is the perfect concealer formula for someone who wants lightweight coverage with a natural, but brightened finish. It combines a concealer and eye brightener in one, great for those minimal no-makeup makeup days.

How It Compares: Could this be the best under eye concealer?
ILIA True Skin Serum is everything I want in a concealer in more. It provided lightweight coverage that lasted all day with minimal creasing. The formula features skincare benefits that help brighten the under eye area creating a lifted, awake look. The creamy formula blended out beautifully, providing a blurred appearance both the under eyes and imperfections.
While I did enjoy using True Skin Serum Concealer, I don’t consider it the industry standard. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (rated ****4.3) takes that place, in my opinion. It is the same price and has a more inclusive shade range (30 versus 20). NARS Radiant blends out like a dream and is super creamy. It is a no hassle formula that is lightweight, buildable, and feels great on the skin. You can layer this product without having to worry about it disturbing what’s underneath. Winning more awards and having more five star reviews on Sephora’s website, NARS Radiant Creamy continues to be iconic.
Milabu Beauty Method: Bye, bye, tired eyes!
ILIA True Skin is great at hiding tired eyes (thanks, vitamin C!). Here’s how I like to apply it.
- First apply your desired base products (primer, foundation).
- Swipe a bit of concealer on the inner and outer third of your under eye area. I recommend letting the concealer sit for about 30 seconds to warm up before blending it in.
- Using a brush (I like this one from Rare Beauty, $16) or sponge, gently blend in the concealer using upward motions. This helps to create a more lifted effect.
- After you have the coverage you want, set the under eye area with your favorite loose powder (I recommend Laura Mercier, $39).
