Say hello to your new favorite clean mascara formula: ILIA Fullest Volumizing.
I’ve been on a quest to find a natural mascara to replace my beloved Bite Beauty Upswing Mascara (RIP Bite Beauty). If you also loved Upswing’s volumizing formula, I’m sure you’re in search of a replacement. ILIA has a sister formula to their cult favorite Limitless Lash Mascara: Fullest Volumizing. This ILIA mascara promises mega volume, lift, and definition without irritating even the most sensitive eyes, just like Bite Beauty Upswing. Friends, I’m very happy to report that Fullest Volumizing is just as good, just as volumizing, and just as clean.
Promises vs. Performance: Volume without compromise.
ILIA Fullest Volumizing Mascara has weightless, buildable volume. It thickens and defines lashes from root to tip while nourishing with ingredients such as arginine and provitamin B5. The weightless wax blend ensures a flexible formula that keeps lashes lifted, never feeling crunchy or stiff. This ILIA mascara promises a long lasting wear with no flaking or smudging. With it being free of ingredients such as carbon black, mineral oil, and parabens, it is safe for even the most sensitive eyes. In addition, its ophthalmologist tested making it safe for contact lens wearers. And, when you’re ready to take off your makeup, it has an easy removal that requires no scrubbing, tugging, or makeup remover.
I love when a mascara can give me a dramatic, false lash effect. Lucky for me, this ILIA mascara does just that. ILIA Fullest Volumizing separates and defines lashes with intense black pigment from the first swipe. My one gripe with this mascara is the huge wand. Yes, it gives lashes mega volume, making them look thick, full, and plush. But, application can get really messy if you don’t clean excess mascara off the wand. The results can get clumpy very fast. I get at least 8 hours of wear with minimal flaking, smudging, or transferring. Bonus points: the formula doesn’t weigh my lashes down and they stay curled and lifted all day long.
Truly, this is a bomb clean mascara formula and a great option if you previously loved Bite Beauty Upswing like me. They both have large, fluffy wands that build tons of volume. I even think Fullest Volumizing has a longer wear than Upswing, which I know I love and appreciate. If you want a natural mascara that gives a voluminous, false lash effect, this is the one to try.

How It Compares: This ILIA mascara is a good one.
Mega volume and a clean formula? Yes, please! This ILIA mascara is perfect for achieving voluminous, dramatic lashes. It separates and defines lashes, while adding volume from roots to tips. This mascara holds curl all day and lashes don’t fall flat one bit. Fullest Volumizing has a long wear with minimal smudging, transfer, and flaking. However, the amount of smudging and transfer can depend on a couple things. First, if you set you under eye concealer and, second, if your eyelids tend to be oilier. I always recommend setting the under eyes and wearing at least an eye primer on the lids! Despite its minor flaw, this ILIA mascara is one I really enjoy.
But, how does it compare to my holy grail Lancome Lash Idole (rated ****4.4)? It stacks up pretty well, in my opinion. Just like Fullest Volumizing, Lash Idole gives my lashes volume, length, definition, and curl. The differences come with the formula and wand. ILIA is a cleaner formula, free of ingredients such as fragrance, gluten, parabens, carbon black, and more. In terms of the wand, ILIA’s wand is a much larger, hourglass-shaped wand that can be hard to work with if too much formula is on the brush. Lancôme has a smaller, curved wand that I find is less prone to clumping and easier to work with.
