ILIA Balmy Gloss Tinted Lip Oil Review: High shine gloss and all day comfort.
There are so many lip glosses on the market today, and a lot of them are sticky and uncomfortable to wear. That’s why I was intrigued by ILIA Balmy Gloss Tinted Lip Oil, which is said to give lips beautiful shine and a subtle wash of color that is comfortable to wear. None of that dreaded stickiness! This product is newer to the makeup scene, so I couldn’t wait to see how it performs. Let’s Jump into the ILIA Balmy Gloss Tinted Lip Oil review.
Promises vs. Performance: A surge of natural, smoothing moisture for lips.
According to the brand website, hyaluronic acid is a key ingredient in ILIA ip oil which is full of other goodies to moisturize lips. The hyaluronic acid is part of a hydrating super trio, along with meadowfoam seed oil and salicornia herbacea (sea succulent) extract. No surprise that ILIA lip oil is supposed to be plumping, hydrating, cushiony, and, as I mentioned above, never sticky. This product is said to deliver rich hydration and improve lips with each wear. Lips should feel instantly smoother, more plump, and softer upon application. In the words of ILIA, your pout will “experience a surge of smooth” while wearing this product.
My Review Thoughts: ILIA Balmy Gloss Tinted Lip Oil
For the review I picked shade ‘Only You’ from ILIA Balmy Gloss Tinted Lip Oil, a neutral nude, which looks right up my alley. My initial introduction to this project was using it as a prep step. I was hoping it would hydrate my lips as promised to prep them for the Color Block Lipstick I would later be applying. With just a swipe of this lip oil I noticed my lips felt hydrated and supple. The color wore as a subtle wash of rosy nude with a high shine finish, which I loved.
But, now, this lip oil has become a staple in my purse. It is my perfect swipe of barely-there color for light makeup days. It’s not sticky (for a gloss). It keeps my lips stay hydrated and nourished. And, I love that I can haphazardly apply the sheer formula and not worry about it looking crazy.
How It Compares: Balmy Gloss is the best lip oil.
Can a glossy lip oil provide a shiny, wash of color and be comfy to wear? ILIA’s Balmy Gloss is your best bet for a product of this kind in the professional grade category, retailing at $26 a tube. It gave my lips all of the things I look for in a gloss product and much needed hydration before applying a full coverage, matte lipstick. Others must love it too, as it has a 4.6 star rating on Sephora, and out of over three hundred reviewers, 94% recommend this product. It’s also completely vegan and free of silicone, nanoparticles, and parabens. If you’re looking for a clean lip oil, this is it. It delivers the smoothing hydration and gorgeous shine we all desire, and it does so naturally. Balmy Gloss is the perfect hybrid lip product, combining glossy color and maximum moisture in one!
