Quick Review – IL MAKIAGE After Party Foundation
The claims of IL MAKIAGE After Party Foundation sound promising, but it doesn’t quite live up to its expectations. The heavy formula accentuates any texture, and isn’t long wearing.

Will IL MAKIAGE After Party Foundation be better than Woke Up Like This?
I can’t say I’ve had the best of luck with IL MAKIAGE in the past. Their viral Woke Up Like This Foundation let me down, but I thought it was only necessary to test and review the newest addition to their foundation lineup – IL MAKIAGE After Party Foundation. IL MAKIAGE After Party Foundation has a lot of claims, from full coverage, airbrushed skin, and a sweat + humidity proof long wear.

Promises vs. Performance: Will it fulfill its promises?
IL MAKIAGE After Party Foundation has a lot of bold claims. It promises to instantly transform skin to a “flawless, airbrushed masterpiece with just one drop.” This IL MAKIAGE foundation is buildable medium to full coverage with a natural matte finish that is comfortable and breathable while controlling excess oil and shine. It features soft-focus powders that blur and minimize pores and fine lines, while concealing blemishes, uneven texture, and discoloration. The long lasting, sweat and humidity proof formula promises not to fade, flake, shift, cake, or crease.
Il Makiage After Party Foundation Review thoughts
Let’s start with the shade range. Just like the Woke Up Like This IL MAKIAGE Foundation, After Party Foundation has an impressive 50 shade-range, but the colors you see online are not the colors you get in person. The shade finder did not help me find a great match, but chose shades too light for my skin tone. I’d recommend picking your shade based on the color you think would match best rather than the shade finder.
The formula blends relatively easily, but it is best to work quickly and it melts into skin easier with a brush versus a sponge. A little bit goes a long way with the formula, providing a pretty immediate full coverage. Despite its creamy formula, it accentuates every bit of texture and bumps on the skin – and this only gets worse throughout the day as the foundation wears. While skin does look airbrushed, it is a heavy formula.
After a full day of wear and review, After Party Foundation let me down. I’d give it a solid 8 hours of wear, though those 8 hours aren’t flawless. It transfers despite its sweat + humidity proof and long wear claims, and does not help control excess shine and oil as promised. After Party Foundation starts off strong with how it looks, but it slowly goes downhill throughout the day to a patchy, uneven wear after 8-10 hours.
How It Compares: There are way better foundations out there.
At least IL MAKIAGE After Party Foundation meets its promises in terms of coverage and airbrushed finish. But, it doesn’t fulfill many other promises. The formula is heavy and accentuates any bit of texture and bumps on the skin, only accentuating them more the longer you wear it. It’s not a long wearing formula as claimed, and is definitely not fade/cake/crease resistant. The natural matte finish claims to control excess oil and shine as well, but it did not help my T-zone oils. Truthfully, there’s much better foundations at better price points out there.
My holy grail full coverage, long wear foundation remains Estee Lauder Double Wear. If you’ve researched makeup any, I’m sure you’ve come across it. I, and many others, dub it the industry standard for its performance. No matter what primer, what complexion enhancers, and what setters I pair with it, it withstands the test of time. The coverage, finish, and longevity are unmatched.
Let’s Review How IL MAKIAGE After Party Compares To Woke Up Like This Foundation?
During the review I expected so much more from the viral Woke Up Like This IL MAKIAGE Foundation. It promises medium to full coverage with a flawless, natural matte finish, but doesn’t deliver. It’s not the easiest formula to work with as it dries incredibly fast, and it doesn’t provide an immediate medium coverage. Despite its liquidy texture, it cracks and creases almost immediately, which results in only about 3 hours of okay wear. After that, it’s nothing but an extremely patchy wear with a dry, sandy look.
After tests and review, I will say, the IL MAKIAGE After Party Foundation is better than Woke Up Like This, but it still isn’t my favorite foundation. It wears better without cracking and creasing as fast, and not accentuating texture until a few hours into wear. Still, it isn’t the most long wearing foundation, and there are so many other foundations, whether drugstore, prograde, or luxury, that I’d recommend.

Comparison to Top Performers
Il Makiage After Party vs Estee Lauder
Estee Lauder Double Wear gives instant medium coverage that can be built up to full coverage if desired. Double Wear performs time and time again, with 24 hour, budge-proof wear claims. And, it delivers, unlike Il Makiage. I can always count on this foundation makeup to withstand anything life throws at me, looking near flawless for at least 12 hours. Plus, it’s suited for all skin types! Check out the detailed rating chart. It compares all the foundation characteristics.
Clean Foundation Option
A clean foundation alternative to IL MAKIAGE After Party would be Lawless Conseal The Deal. It’s a long wear, full coverage foundation with a fluid texture. It boasts of a weightless feel, natural matte finish that doesn’t look dry, and has self-setting properties too. This formula wears a solid 8+ hours without breaking apart, settling, or looking/feeling oily.
Best Drugstore Foundation
For the best drugstore foundation overall, I’d check out L’Oreal Infallible Fresh Wear. This is my go-to drugstore foundation (and a dupe for Estee Lauder Double Wear!) because its has the performance and longevity I look for. The coverage is buildable medium to full, and it has a natural finish that will mimic whatever primer you wear underneath.
IL MAKIAGE After Party Foundation Dupe
The closest drugstore dupe would be Juvia’s Place I Am Magic. From application to end-of-day results, there’s not much I don’t love about this foundation. It provides full coverage that wears beautifully without the need for touch-ups. Plus, it doesn’t settle or cling to any imperfections, from dryness and texture, bumps, fine lines, and pores. The shade range is great, too, with 42 inclusive shades. If you want a true long wearing foundation, I recommend this Juvia’s Place Foundation.
