Overview
The claims of IL MAKIAGE After Party Foundation sound promising, but it doesn’t quite live up to its expectations. The heavy formula accentuates any texture, and isn’t long wearing.

Will IL MAKIAGE After Party Foundation be better than Woke Up Like This?
I can’t say I’ve had the best of luck with IL MAKIAGE in the past. Their viral Woke Up Like This Foundation let me down, but I thought it was only necessary to test the newest addition to their foundation lineup. IL MAKIAGE After Party Foundation has a lot to offer, from full coverage, airbrushed skin, and a sweat + humidity proof long wear.
Promises vs. Performance: Will it fulfill its promises?
IL MAKIAGE After Party Foundation has a lot of bold claims. It promises to instantly transform skin to a “flawless, airbrushed masterpiece with just one drop.” This IL MAKIAGE foundation is buildable medium to full coverage with a natural matte finish that is comfortable and breathable while controlling excess oil and shine. It features soft-focus powders that blur and minimize pores and fine lines, while concealing blemishes, uneven texture, and discoloration. The long lasting, sweat and humidity proof formula promises not to fade, flake, shift, cake, or crease.
My honest thoughts.
Let’s start with the shade range. Just like the Woke Up Like This IL MAKIAGE Foundation, After Party Foundation has an impressive 50 shade-range, but they aren’t color true online to in person. The shade finder did not help me find a great match, but chose shades too light for my skin tone. I’d recommend picking your shade based on the color you think would match best rather than the shade finder.
The formula blends relatively easily, but it is best to work quickly and it melts into skin easier with a brush versus a sponge. A little bit goes a long way with the formula, providing a pretty immediate full coverage. Despite its creamy formula, it accentuates every bit of texture and bumps on the skin – and this only gets worse throughout the day as the foundation wears. While skin does look airbrushed, it is a heavy formula.
After a full day of wear, After Party Foundation let me down. I’d give it a solid 8 hours of wear, though those 8 hours aren’t flawless. It transfers despite its sweat + humidity proof and long wear claims, and does not help control excess shine and oil as promised. After Party Foundation starts off strong with how it looks, but it slowly goes downhill throughout the day to a patchy, uneven wear after 8-10 hours.

How It Compares: There are way better foundations out there.
At least IL MAKIAGE After Party Foundation meets its promises in terms of coverage and airbrushed finish. But, it doesn’t fulfill many other promises. The formula is heavy and accentuates any bit of texture and bumps on the skin, only accentuating them more the longer you wear it. It’s not a long wearing formula as claimed, and is definitely not fade/cake/crease resistant. The natural matte finish claims to control excess oil and shine as well, but it did not help my T-zone oils. Truthfully, there’s much better foundations at better price points out there.
My holy grail full coverage, long wear foundation remains Estee Lauder Double Wear. If you’ve researched makeup any, I’m sure you’ve come across it. I, and many others, dub it the industry standard for its performance. No matter what primer, what complexion enhancers, and what setters I pair with it, it withstands the test of time. The coverage, finish, and longevity are unmatched.
How Does It Compare To IL MAKIAGE Woke Up Like This Foundation?
I expected so much more from the viral Woke Up Like This IL MAKIAGE Foundation. It promises medium to full coverage with a flawless, natural matte finish, but doesn’t deliver. It’s not the easiest formula to work with as it dries incredibly fast, and it doesn’t provide an immediate medium coverage. Despite its liquidy texture, it cracks and creases almost immediately, which results in only about 3 hours of okay wear. After that, it’s nothing but an extremely patchy wear with a dry, sandy look.
I will say, the IL MAKIAGE After Party Foundation is better than Woke Up Like This, but it still isn’t my favorite foundation. It wears better without cracking and creasing as fast, and not accentuating texture until a few hours into wear. Still, it isn’t the most long wearing foundation, and there are so many other foundations, whether drugstore, prograde, or luxury, that I’d recommend.
