Overview

Legit Lashes from Huda Beauty is not my favorite mascara. It fell flat (literally) in terms of volume, curl, and length. And, the formula isn’t the longest wearing.

Huda Beauty Legit Lashes Double-Ended Mascara fell flat in many ways.

You know, sometimes layering mascara to get your desired lash look is inevitable. Plus, it gives you flexibility and different looks having two formulas in your collection. Huda Beauty solved the need for two separate wands by creating Legit Lashes Double-Ended Mascara. Side A is for volume to get thick, full lashes. Side B gives you Curl & Length by adding fibers and curling lashes for a fluttery effect. I put this to the test with Huda’s recommend application (Side A then Side B, Side B on bottom lashes), and I can’t say I was impressed with the application or wear.

Promises vs. Performance: Huda Beauty Mascara says Legit Lashes will work for all, no matter how short or straight your lashes are.

Legit Lashes Mascara from Huda Beauty is a unique one. This mascara is a double ended wand featuring two brushes and two formulas. Side A, Volume, feature short, volumizing fibers that give fuller, thicker lashes. Side B, Length & Curl, has gripping waxes and 5mm lengthening fibers that instantly lengthen lashes while the curved brush curls. When layering the two formulas, Huda Beauty promises volume, length, lift, and curl. A clump free application is also promised.

Huda Beauty recommends applying the Side A (Volume) first, then going in with Side B (Length & Curl) over top. I feel like the formula of Side A is on the drier side, kind of like a mousse-y texture. Side B also feels on the drier side and weighs my lashes down right after I apply it. I like how black the pigment is, yet it doesn’t look too intense. But, because of the drier texture I was worried about flaking when I initially tested this mascara.

Not to my surprise, I had quite a bit of transfer underneath my eyes by the end of the day. I definitely wouldn’t call this a long wearing formula, and Huda Beauty mascara doesn’t make any longevity claims. The formula is heavy, dry, and definitely not smudge resistant.

Our Rating Criteria

How Huda Beauty Mascara Compares: There’s a better all-in-one mascara out there.

Well, Huda Beauty Legit Lashes fell flat (literally) in terms of my performance. This dual-ended mascara features Side A for Volume and Side B for Curl & Length. The formula of both sides is on the drier side. With Side A, the big brush is a bit hard to control. Side B is a bit easier, but when I layer this formula over top, my lashes get weighed down. And, there’s no long wear with this mascara. By the end of the day, I have smudging and transfer under my eyes.

But, if you’re looking for a mascara that can do it all with only one wand, you’re in luck. Lancome Lash Idole is my holy grail for an all-in-one mascara that volumizes, lengthens, curls, separates, and lasts all day. I don’t have to sacrifice one benefit over the other or a long wear with Idole. It layers beautifully and can be built up to give me that false lash effect when I want it.

Milabu Beauty Method: You’ll definitely want to curl your lashes with this formula.

And, make sure you set your under eyes to help prevent as much smudging and transfer as possible.

  1. Use your favorite lash curler to give your lashes some extra flutter. My favorite is from Kevyn Aucoin ($21).
  2. Lock in the curl with a lash primer. Lancome Cils Booster XL ($28) continues to be my holy grail.
  3. Now, apply Legit Lashes starting with Side A (Volume). Huda says to layer until you reach your desired result.
  4. Then, while your lashes are still a bit wet, add a few coats of Side B (Curl & Length).
  5. Finish off lashes with a swipe of Side B (Curl & Length) on your bottom lashes.
