This Milani mascara is one of my drugstore favorites.
There’s some mascaras where I’m willing to overlook their imperfections because they make my lashes look so good. One of these is a Milani mascara that gives my lashes volume, separation, length, and definition. As flawless as it makes my lashes look, the performance isn’t flawless. While it doesn’t smudge, transfer, or give me raccoon eyes, it does flake quite a bit. But, despite its flaking, I continue to wear this mascara because of how bomb it makes my lashes look.
Promises vs. Performance: Will this Milani mascara give me the volume, length, and lift promised?
As the name suggests, this Milani mascara provides extreme volume, length, and lift. Highly Rated Anti-Gravity is infused with castor oil and fruit based waxes to keep lashes nourished. It has intense black pigment that applies seamlessly with the help of its flexible hourglass shaped brush. Milani promises up to 24 hours of flawless wear, with no clumping or smudging.
I don’t know about you, but I like my lashes to be lengthened, separated, and lifted. Volume is just an added bonus! This Milani mascara is one that does it all. In just one coat, my lashes look defined thanks to the formula’s intense black pigment. The hourglass shaped brush makes it easy to coat each lash and helps lift lashes for all-day curl. I appreciate that the formula isn’t too wet or too dry, which makes it great for building volume and pigment. However, too many layers can result in clumping. Luckily, you only need one or two coats for the perfect lashes!
The one thing I will say about this mascara is that it is very flaky. On me, it wears pretty perfectly for the first two hours, but after that, it starts raining mascara flakes! Although, the flakes don’t stick too much and can be wiped away easily. The good thing is, this mascara doesn’t smudge or transfer, and it doesn’t give me raccoon eyes!

How It Compares: It’s not perfect, but I do enjoy this Milani mascara.
The only thing I don’t love about Milani Highly Rated Anti-Gravity Mascara is how flaky it is. Other than that, it’s pretty perfect in my book. The hourglass wand makes it easy to apply, coating each lash for definition and separation. It gives volume and length, plus an intense black pigment in just one coat. My lashes look wispy, fluttery, and oh so pretty with this formula. Because of that, I’m willing to overlook the flakes!
My holy grail drugstore mascara is Maybelline Lash Sensational (rated ****4.6). It isn’t a tubing mascara, but I can rely on this one for a 8+ hours of wear, free of flaking, smudging, and transfer. The curved wand hugs my lashes perfectly to help lift and curl lashes. This one has my heart because I get everything I want from a mascara: length, volume, separation, curl, and longevity.
