Our Rating Criteria

HAUS LABS Bio-Blurring is the best setting powder for an airbrushed, blurred effect.

You might have had the thought, ‘What is setting powder and why do I need it?’ If you have, you just haven’t found the best setting powder. I like my setting powders to do a few things: blur my skin, control my shine, and not settle into my fine lines or pores. Oh, and extend the longevity of my makeup – that’s an important one! Luckily, I’ve tested several (re: hundreds) of setting powders and have found several holy grails. One of these is HAUS LABS Bio-Blurring Loose Setting Powder. Let’s dive in and see what makes this powder so great.

Promises vs. Performance: Blurring, smoothing, and long wearing? Yes, please!

HAUS LABS by Lady Gaga is home to clean artistry formulas with exclusive patent-pending complexes and proprietary ingredients. Bio-Blurring Loose Setting Powder is made to blur, control shine, and set makeup. This talc free powder promises no flashback and long wear. The weightless gel-powder formula is powered by patent-pending Fermented Arnica which helps reduce redness and irritation, even skin tone, and protect from environmental stressors. Also included in the formula is plant squalane to nourish and tourmaline to energize skin. Bio-Blurring Setting Powder provides a soft-focus, smooth finish.

There’s a lot to unpack about this Lady Gaga makeup. For starters, the packaging is stunning. The loose powder is housed in a beautiful silver container that features a sifter net for easy use. HAUS LABS says you can use a brush or sponge to apply this product, and my favorite method is using a powder puff (the beautyblender puff is my favorite, $15). Press your tool into the sifter net, then use the lid to work the powder into your tool/remove any excess. Then tap, don’t buff, the powder into the areas of you face you want to set. Instantly, watch your skin transform to a smooth, airbrushed finish.

Bio-Blurring Loose Setting Powder wears just as stunning, too. There’s no photo flashback with this powder and it actually does help extend the longevity of makeup. It resists creasing, settling, fading, and caking for a beautiful 10+ hours of wear. No more worrying about excess shine or a heavy, powdery makeup look!

But, despite how beautifully blurring this loose powder is, it isn’t the greatest value. $38 for 0.24 oz just isn’t a lot. The average loose powder in pro grade and luxury beauty is 0.58 oz. Because this HAUS LABS powder is half the average amount, its value rating is a 2.1. What we will say is this: if you want a powder that blurs skin like no other, this is the one.

Our Rating Criteria

How It Compares: HAUS LABS loose setting powder is the best blurring powder.

Blurred, smoothed, airbrushed skin? Sign me up! Bio-Blurring Loose Setting Powder from HAUS LABS is one of my new favorites, especially for under the eyes. It applies beautifully with a makeup powder puff, instantly blurring any area of the face. In addition, it also helps extend the longevity of makeup, preventing settling, creasing, fading, and caking. I’ve worn this powder for 10+ hours and it looks beautiful from application to removal.

There are several other setting powders on the market that perform great. First, Make Up For Ever Ultra HD is one of the best in prograde beauty. It truly extends the life of makeup for over 10 hours and keeps skin matte all day long. However, the best setting powder continues to be Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder, everything considered. For the price and value, $40 for 1.0 oz, it just can’t be beat. This powder resists creasing and settling for a flawless, blurred finish no matter how long you’ve been wearing your makeup. Laura Mercier powder is suited for all skin types, dry to oily, and wears beautifully on all.
