Gucci Natural Finish Foundation Review
Gucci Natural Finish foundation didn’t wow me. I craved smoother texture, better coverage, and longer wear time from the $68 formula. Their buzzy lipsticks and bronzers make better beauty splurges.

Gucci Natural Finish Fluid Foundation: Luxury makeup worth the hefty price?
The iconic House of Gucci relaunched its cosmetics lineup in 2019 under the direction of Italian designer Alessandro Michele. It wasn’t long before they had sold more than one million lipsticks! Because the amazing lippie is so bomb, I had high hopes for the other products in the line. Could Natural Finish Fluid Foundation compliment my stop sign pout? Not only that, but would it reveal itself to be the best high end foundation? For $68, I sure hoped so.
Unfortunately, this face base was a little difficult to build up. It cracked, and it didn’t last as long as I’d hoped. When it comes to pricey Gucci makeup, I’m happy to splurge on the lipstick and bronzer: The carefully curated shades. The luxe feel. The long wear time. The glam packaging. What’s not to love? But I’m taking a pass on Natural Finish Fluid Foundation (Fluide De Beauté Fini Naturel). Read the full review on Gucci Natural Finish Foundation
Promises vs. Performance: How Gucci’s luxury makeup, Natural Finish Fluid Foundation, did in my all-day wear test.
I’m always doing my research looking for the best high end foundation. Gucci’s website presents Natural Finish Fluid Foundation as an advanced formulation with lots of tricks. Those include polymer technology for a blurring effect. Also, emulsifiers and glycerin for hydration, and soft focus powder technology that “transforms texture for effortless and precise application.” Suitable for all skin types, this foundation is supposed to be comfortable, lightweight, long wearing, and buildable from natural to full coverage by changing the application method.
My Review Thoughts on Gucci Natural Finish Foundation
Gucci encourages priming with its Silk Priming Serum (Sérum de Beauté Fluide Soyeux) for an enhanced glow effect. In my wear test, I primed half of my face with this primer as recommended, using no primer on the other side. The formula is super liquidy. It felt like water and that it would be more of a light coverage rather than the light to medium Gucci claims. I feel like this is one of those “what is going on?” formulas. It feels moussey, but light, and the texture is a bit oily, but serum-like at the same time. And I was right about the coverage. Using a brush, I achieved a lighter coverage. It did blend out easily, but the foundation didn’t really sink into my skin and instead it just sat on top.
Interestingly, the half of my face that was primed seemed to show poorer results. Though, I gotta admit: I wasn’t really thrilled by the performance of either side. At the end of the day, my pores and dry patches were more visible on the primed side especially. The only thing it had going for it at the end of the day was how it felt.

How It Compares: A better luxury makeup foundation.
Gucci Natural Finish Fluid Foundation is light and airy on the face. It felt comfortable at the end of a full day wear which was great! The formula and texture is definitely unique and is hard to build up to achieve more than a light coverage. The recommended primer didn’t help blur my pores, but instead accentuated any skin texture. Something I do want to call out is the scent. It is heavily fragranced and the scent of it and the primer really lingered in my nose after application. For the price and performance, I’d skip this high end foundation.
What I can give you is my word that Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk (rated ****4.4)is a stunning luxury foundation that actually provides a great return on investment. It has just as many shades to choose from, but does a better job in terms of coverage, longevity, and workability. The easy to blend formula can be built up to a beautiful medium coverage that doesn’t accentuate imperfections and texture. A favorite of professional makeup artists, Luminous Silk looks flawless in photographs doesn’t have that feel of it just sitting on top of the skin, but instead gives you that airbrushed look.
Milabu Beauty Method: Get the most coverage from this makeup.
My preference is to skip the primer and apply this product directly to my bare face. Here is how I get maximum coverage from a such a thin liquid foundation.
- Dot the makeup onto your forehead, cheeks, and chin, dragging it a bit so that it stays in place and doesn’t run.
- Use a fluffy foundation brush to work the foundation into your skin. Dabbing motions yield the most coverage with this product’s consistency.
- Repeat this process to build coverage if desired.
- Top the look off with liquid concealer applied where you need it most, like under the eyes or on blemishes.
Tip: Dabbing, or stippling, your brush in up and down motions is key to easily build your coverage with this fluid formula. If you don’t have a brush, use your fingers to spread the product across your skin. Forget the sponge, it will soak up too much product. What a waste of a high end foundation!
