Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose Powder oozes luxury.
Let’s start here: what is setting powder? Setting powder, it does more than just sets your makeup in place. Now we want blurring properties, oil control, change the finish of makeup, long-wearing… Luxury powder should deliver all of it. Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose Powder does not let us down in this review. Plus, this one is special because it’s features 4 different shades made to mattify, brighten, and set makeup. However how does it stack up against the best setting powders on the market? Let’s dive in.
Quick Rating Rundown
Promises vs. Performance: How can a powder mattify, blur, and illuminate all at the same time?
Givenchy Prisme Libre is a best selling, luxurious loose setting and finishing powder. The powder is comprised of four unique colors, two for color correction and two for radiance. Together, they work to address the concerns of uneven complexion, setting makeup in place with a matte, blurred, illuminated finish. There are 6 color combinations that suit any skin tone from fair to deep. Prisme Libre’s formula features a polymer complex that absorbs excess sebum to mattify skin, silica spheres and mica that blur imperfections, and light adaptable pigments that provide a luminous complexion during 6 hours and enables makeup to adapt to any lighting.
My Review Thoughts on Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose Powder
Oh my, oh my! From packaging to formula to wear, Givenchy Prisme Libre is an absolutely stunning loose powder. The square-shaped container is engraved with the iconic 4G Givenchy logo and adds a touch of luxury to any makeup bag. What it is missing though, is a sifter! There are only tiny holes to tap the powder out with which can be messy and wasteful. But, the formula very much so makes up for this flaw.
Sweep on and watch the magic.
The powder itself has the fluffiest, lightweight, most airy texture and feel. It resists clinging and settling into lines, pores, and texture (though, if you wear a thicker foundation it can settle a bit). My favorite way to apply this loose powder is with a puff. I try to evenly press a bit of each color into the puff and gently press it in the areas I want to set or brighten. For me, this is under my eyes and in my t-zone. The result is blurred, brightened, and toned down shine. It blows my mind how this finishing powder can somehow do all of these things while extending my makeup wear time. It’s a bit spendy, but it’s a pretty one!
Best Setting Powder on the Market

If we are going to talk about the best setting powders on the market there are other products that inch it out of the the top three list. Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose Powder does make it into the top 5 powders. If you are looking for outstanding color correcting and best flawless finish there is nothing better than Givenchy. However, if we are going to review and compare Givenchy Loose Powder vs Laura Mercier powder, market has spoken, she is the queen. See the rating chart and more info on that below.

How It Compares: If you want a splurge setting powder, Givenchy Prisme Libre is it.
Now, I’m going to be honest, this $58 setting powder isn’t for everyone. But, if you’re looking for a treat yourself luxury product, this is it. Not only is it housed in a beautiful packaging, but the setting powder itself is actually beautiful too. The finely-milled powder resists settling and creasing to extend makeup wear time while blurring and diffusing imperfections. What makes Givenchy Prisme Libre really impressive is its color correcting technology. The 4 shades work together to color correct and enhance the complexion, for a blurred and illuminated finish that controls shine. Though I love this powder, I do wish they included a sifter that can be closed to ensure less product waste.
Givenchy Loose Powder vs Laura Mercier
Is a $58 setting powder not in your budget? Don’t fret, because there are several other setting powders on the market that perform great. However, the best setting powder continues to be Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder. For the price and value, $40 for 1.0 oz, it just can’t be beat. This powder resists creasing and settling for a flawless, blurred finish no matter how long you’ve been wearing your makeup. Laura Mercier powder is suited for all skin types, dry to oily, and wears beautifully on all. If you have never tried this loose powder, you are missing out.
Is there a Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose Powder DUPE?
Givenchy Prisme Libre setting powder is such a unique product that it is hard to find a dupe for. Honestly, there is no makeup brand that has tried to replicate this setting product. Are you are trying to save some money on a setting powder but still want great results? Well, take a look at what we consider to be the best drugstore setting powder, e.l.f. Halo Glow Setting Powder. The longevity and finish is not as good as Prisme Libre’s, but the application is foolproof.
