Flower Beauty Get Real Serum Foundation Review:
Get Real Serum Foundation from Flower Beauty falls short as a foundation in this review. Lightweight in feel and coverage, this product reminds me of a skin tint.

Get Real Serum Foundation… Or should I say, skin tint?
Who doesn’t love Drew Barrymore?! Naturally, I had to test out her makeup line, Flower Beauty. One of her collections is based off of what her character in Never Been Kissed would have worn – how cute is that?!
From primers to mascara, blush to foundation and everything in between, there were some winners and, unfortunately, some losers. One of those not so great products happened to be her Get Real Serum Foundation. I’m gonna be honest: I don’t see how this product can be called a foundation. If anything, it deserves a label of skin tint because I barely got any coverage instead of the light to medium Flower Beauty promised. But, there were still some things to like about this product even with the disappointment. let’s jump into the Flower Beauty Get Real Serum Foundation Review.
Promises vs. Performance: This Flower Beauty foundation gave me barely any coverage.
Flower Beauty says their Get Real Serum Foundation is a light to medium buildable coverage with an “adaptable formula” made to suit a wide range of skin tones (there are only 18 shades available). It is hydrating and weightless, yet conceals and smooths skin for a natural, radiant finish. Gel Real features an antioxidant serum blend that nourishes skin as you wear it. Lavender oil and olive oil are also included in the formula, which brighten and refresh and provide anti-inflammatory properties. Promising to never settle into lines, skin should appear youthful and healthy.
Review Thoughts: Flower Beauty Get Real Serum Foundation
I picked up two shades of this foundation to test out, Shell and Ivory, and mixing the two ended up being my perfect shade. It did blend out really easily with a brush, but I was getting barely any coverage. I was thinking that because it is such a liquidy formula that it had a hard time building up the coverage. But, even as I added more pigment, I wasn’t getting anywhere close to the light-medium coverage Flower Beauty promised. What I got was very reminiscent of a skin tint because, even with building, I barely got any coverage.
Because of that, I can’t really say the wear wowed me. My complexion looked evened out and didn’t look greasy, but it’s hard to speak in terms of how the coverage lasted. I could see imperfections peeking through, which is typical of how a skin tint type coverage would perform.
How It Compares: This Flower Beauty product doesn’t compare to my holy grail drugstore foundation.

We’ve thoroughly established that the Get Real Serum Foundation from Flower Beauty can’t really be called a foundation. In my opinion, it’s more of a skin tint product. Yes, it is lightweight, and yes, it feels good on the skin, but that’s about all it does. Flower Beauty promised a light to medium coverage, but I got barely any coverage despite layering and building the formula up. It also never really fully set on my face, leaving a tacky finish behind. It is a formula you definitely have to powder to keep on and if you want to layer anything on top.
If you’re looking for a drugstore foundation that performs, L’Oreal Infallible is one of my holy grails. It gives a beautiful, medium to full coverage with a natural finish. It looks great on the skin all day with little to no fading, creasing, or settling. In fact, I’ve worn it for over 12 hours and it still looked bomb at the end of the day!
Milabu Beauty Method: Here’s how to get coverage using Get Real from Flower Beauty.
This isn’t one of those “one & done” products that give you flawless, natural coverage. If you want anything more than an evened out skin tone, you’ll need to pair this with a powder foundation over top.
- Prime the skin with a blurring primer. This one from Hard Candy ($7) is a great dupe for Milk Makeup Hydro Grip ($36).
- Start with 1-2 pumps on the back of your hand. Swipe the foundation across your face, concentrating it on the high points.
- Using a dense brush (I enjoy e.l.f.’s Buffing Brush, $6), blend the foundation into your skin. Stick with one layer since we’ll be adding a powder on top.
- Let the liquid foundation dry down for a few minutes.
- I love Maybelline SuperStay Powder Foundation ($11.99). I recommend layering this on top for added coverage. My preferred application is taking a kabuki brush and buffing this into skin.
