Fenty Match Stix is one of the easiest to use cream contours.
I’m gonna be honest with you: I used to be intimidated by contouring. Especially cream contouring. It looked scary, drawing a bunch of dark and light lines on your face hoping (and praying) it would all blend out and you wouldn’t look crazy at the end. That is, until I discovered Fenty Match Stix contour stick. This was the first cream contour stick I ever tried, and, luckily, it’s easy to use. Fenty, changed the way contour sticks should be formulated.
Quick Rating Rundown
Promises vs. Performance: Targeted application cream contour with a matte finish.
Match Stix Matte Contour Skinsticks is the official name according to Fenty Beauty’s website. They come in a range of eight matte shades, perfectly curated for the full spectrum of skin tones. The stick format makes these easy to use and great for a targeted application, putting product right where you want to contour. Match Stix are said to have a cream to powder “light-as-air” formula that can easily be layered. Fenty claims there will be no creasing or caking with longwear formula.
Rihanna’s shade is Truffle, and mine is Mocha. I found the cool undertone shade Mocha to be the best match for me and the description (for light medium skin tones) to match perfectly. When wearing, I directly draw on the contour in the areas I want to add depth to my face (for me, this is under my cheek bones, my jaw line, and around my hair line). I find a dense brush, like the Expert Face Brush from Real Techniques, to be the easiest way to blend out these creamy products. Match Stix are lightweight enough to layer a powder bronzer on top for added warmth and depth. You can build them up without disrupting the first layer or any other product below.
But how does it wear?
One word: beautifully. The formula finishes and sets on the skin as a powder would without ever creasing, caking, or looking patchy. I wouldn’t say the matte finish holds all day long, as cream products always let a bit of my natural oils shine through. Even on my oily skin, my contour stays looking good all day with this product. Truthfully, this is one of the easiest, most foolproof makeup products I’ve ever used.
How It Compares: Fenty Match Stix is a tried & true contour stick.
I hope I’ve convinced you that this cream contour is nothing to be scared of. In fact, if you’re a beginner and never tried cream contour before, Fenty Match Stix is a great option. This Fenty Beauty product makes contouring easy and effortless with it’s easy to use targeted application stick. It blends in easily and has a cream to powder finish with plenty of time to blend before it sets. It layers beautifully so that you can take your time building the depth of your contour.

Westman Atelier Face Trace Contour Stick
The Westman Atelier Contour Stick has been a favorite of mine for quite some time, but it is on the pricier side. Full size, you only get 0.21oz of product for $48 (mini is 0.09oz for $25). Even still, I love it. It has the creamiest formula that blends like a dream. It looks beautiful when used over or under makeup and wears well. This is Ultimate luxury that has unbeatable performance.
Milk Makeup Sculpt Contour Stick
First of all MILK Makeup is a clean brand. It’s easy to start by describing MILK makeup contour stick as being the cleanest. Apart from that it has an impressive list of other accolades.
The Milk Makeup Sculpt Contour Stick may just be my new favorite cream contour stick. It’s easy and blendable enough for beginners, but buildable for those who are contour pros. The formula is one of the creamiest while still drying down matte. And while the small size could be a con, it’s actually the perfect size to precisely draw your contour exactly where you want it. Finally, a cream contour stick that’s affordable and performs well!
Fenty Contour stick Dupe / drugstore option
lf you are looking for an ultimate Fenty Contour stick dupe, NYX Wonder Stick Dual Ended Face Shaping Stick is the option to be looking at. It might not be as creamy as MILK Makeup or Fenty but this contour stick does has outstanding longevity. If you are looking to save some dollars stick with NYX contour option. 😉
Other Mentions:
Another product worth a mention is the NUDESTIX Blur Contour Stick. This is a very unique contour stick. Somehow it blends out with grace and ends up with this wonderful blur – it almost looks airbrushes. It’s the way the color dissipates on the cheeks and face. If you love that blurred/airbrushed look without working hard for it, this is an outstanding option.
