Fenty Brow MVP Ultra Fine Brow Pencil & Styler: Achieve the feathered eyebrows look.
Bigger, feathered eyebrows are all the rage lately, and I’m totally here for this brow look. To achieve fluffy brows, you first need a strong wax or gel product to shape your eyebrows. Second, you need to fill in the sparse areas with hairlike strokes using a brow pencil or pen. My favorite way to achieve this look is a classic brown pencil, but one with a super fine point for ultimate precision. I have my favorites, but am always open to trying something new. Would the Fenty Brow Pencil be my new favorite? Spoiler alert: it’s not. Let’s get into Fenty Brow Pencil Review.
Promises vs. Performance: Spoiler Alert: This brow pencil has a paddle brush, not a spoolie.
Fenty Brow Pencil has a convenient, ultra fine retractable tip to effortlessly create hairlike strokes. The formula is described as not too creamy and not too dry, boasting waterproof claims for an all day wear free of smudging. Coming in 14 shades, this product has one of the largest eyebrow pencil shade ranges, from strawberry blonde to ash brown to the deepest black, ensuring to cover “even the hardest-to-match hair colors.” But, what makes this pencil one of the most unique brow pencils is the paddle brush. Most eyebrow pencils have a spoolie tool, but this one has a tiny, dense paddle brush for combing through and styling eyebrow hairs.
My Review Thoughts: Fenty Brow Pencil
When I tested Fenty brow pencil during review, I used shade Ash Brown. I was extremely impressed with the color match and the formula. Just as Fenty’s website claims, the formula is just creamy enough. That, along with the delicate tip, made it easy to create smooth strokes of color for a fuller, natural eyebrow look. My brows didn’t budge all day. While I normally use spoolies, the paddle brush blended the pigment and combed my eyebrow hairs well. Although I prefer a spoolie, I love that Fenty Brow Pencil is unique.
Quick Rating Rundown
Let’s Review How It Compares: Fenty vs Benefit brow pencil.
The standard brow pencil for this price range is Benefit Cosmetics Precisely, My Brow Pencil. This product gives 12 hours of budge proof wear. It also creates beautiful hairlike strokes with its precise, twist-up tip. And while I admire Rihanna for offering a unique paddle brush tool, Benefit’s got the classic spoolie. I think the spoolie does a perfect job of combing the hairs into place. Benefit brow pencil is rich and nicely pigmented, and for me, the color match is spot on. Although I love Fenty Brow Pencil & Styler, Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil has got a little bit of an edge.
Milabu Beauty Method: 4 steps to applying this brow pencil for feathered eyebrows.
If you love the feathered eyebrows look as much as I do, here are my steps to achieving it with the Fenty brow pencil.
- Beginning at the inner corner of your brow, create a horizontal line at the base, continuing to the middle of the brow.
- Create small, upward flicks at the inner corner. Use a light hand so there’s no harsh lines. Comb through this area with the provided paddle brush using upward strokes.
- Drawing diagonal lines across your brows, fill in your brow with hairlike strokes from the middle to the tail end. Then comb through the entire brow to blend the pigment into your hairs.
- Finish off with an eyebrow gel. My favorite is the Benefit 24-Hour Brow Setter ($24).
