essence blush is tiny, but mighty.

Spoiler alert: essence blush is bomb. This tiny little compact packs a punch. And the best part? It’s just $3.99. I’ve got to say, I was skeptical about this blush. I mean, how good can a $3.99 cheek color be?! But, essence hasn’t let me down in the past when it comes to their mascara, so I was hopeful going into my initial testing of this blush. Let’s dive into essence the blush review.

Promises vs. Performance: Well, how is essence blush?

There’s not many details on the essence cosmetics website about ‘the blush.’ Simply put, it has a silky-smooth texture and buildable pigment. The vegan blush promises a natural flush of color. It comes in 5 shades, to include a light peach, a traditional baby pink, and a darker mauve tone. In addition, its cruelty free, vegan, and gluten free.

My Review Thoughts: essence the blush

Pigmented and beautiful. That’s the best way to describe essence blush in the review. These little compacts really pack a punch when it comes to performance. The powder has a soft, velvety texture that blends super easily. It’s not too powdery, which makes it apply on top of any base with ease and without looking patchy. I will say, these blushes are pigmented and a little goes a long way. I definitely recommend going in with a light hand and building to your desired intensity! Whether you want a subtle flush of color or bold pop, this powder blush will deliver. And, I love that this blush gives a natural finish – not too luminous, and not too matte!

It also wears really beautifully. I don’t experience much settling into pores or fine lines and it doesn’t accentuate skin texture. The color stays vivid all day and doesn’t wear off very easily. Though, if you’re outside sweating, you may experience some fading!

Our Rating Criteria

Let’s Review How It Compares: essence blush is best for pigment, e.l.f. is best for long wear.

The first thing to say in the review for comparison, essence blush is one of the best values at the drugstore. It’s an extremely pigmented formula that is user friendly and comes at a steal at just $3.99 a shade. The soft texture blends easily for an airbrushed, diffused lit-from-within cheek look. It doesn’t look patchy, and has minimal fading and settling for an all day wear.

So, which blush is the best at the drugstore? An all-around stellar performer is e.l.f. Primer-Infused Blush. This blush has a soft, creamy powder texture that applies beautifully. It is a bit more matte on the cheeks, and it has a much longer wear than most thanks to the primer-infused formula. Its performance is what makes this one of the best blushes at the drugstore.

Truthfully, there’s a ton of great powder blushes at the drugstore. We here at Milabu Co. have put together a list of our favorites, for all your powder blush needs! Both essence and e.l.f. made the list, plus a handful of other faves (have you ever tried Milani blushes? Gorgeous!). Did your favorite make the list? Check and see here.
