Our Rating Criteria

Spoiler alert: elf Blush Wand doesn’t meet expectations.

As someone who loves cream and liquid blush (and a good dupe!), I had high expectations for the new elf Halo Glow Beauty Blush Wands. These look to be a dupe of the Charlotte Tilbury Blush Wands that have been viral for quite some time now. But, will there ever be a better blush wand than Charlotte Tilbury’s? Let’s take a look at the elf Blush Wand and see.

Our Rating Criteria

Promises vs. Performance: If you like shimmery cheeks, this is the blush for you.

e.l.f. boasts an easy-to-use formula for their Halo Glow Beauty Blush Wands. They feature a cushion-tip sponge applicator to precisely place product where you want a bit of color. elf Blush Wand comes in 4 shades for flushed, luminous cheeks with radiant dimension. Hydrating squalane adds moisture and benefit of effortless blending.

Let me start by saying the elf Blush Wand is not the most user-friendly formula out there. If you’re not careful, you’ll be met with an extremely patchy application. For best results, apply product to the back of your hand and work from there. The formula is extremely shimmery, which leads to it accentuating texture, lines, pores, and bumps pretty badly. The formula dries quickly and is extremely pigmented, so you have to work fast. Good news is, if you like pigmented, shimmery cheeks, this is the liquid blush for you! But, don’t expect a long wear out of this formula. It fades fast and is prone to moving around and transferring when not set with a powder over top.

How It Compares: What happened with elf Blush Wand?

I’m gonna be honest, I’m not impressed with any of the e.l.f. Halo Glow Beauty Wands, but the blush is my least favorite. It’s an incredibly shimmery formula that is reminiscent of a highlighter. The shimmer accentuates any bit of texture and bumps on the skin, clinging and settling into pores and lines. Even at an affordable price, there’s much better out there.
