Promises vs. Performance: Long lasting, matte, nondrying? Hmm…

Dior Transfer Proof Lipstick brings the cult favorite Dior transfer-proof formula in bullet lipstick form. The formula is ultra-pigmented for matte, intense color for 16 hours of transfer proof wear that doesn’t smudge or fade. It’s infused with red peony extract, which helps maintain the natural hydration of the lips, aiding in 16 hours of comfort wear. Dior promises you’ll forget you’re even wearing this lipstick, and you’ll forget the need for touch-ups – after 3 minutes, these lippies are fully set and going nowhere.

When I first came across the Dior Transfer Proof Lipstick at Sephora, I was not excited to try these. The displays looked dry and cracked, and I just knew the formula wasn’t going to be a favorite. But, I was pleasantly surprised. From the moment I swiped these on my lips for the first time, I knew these would be a favorite (at least, I hoped they would!). The lipstick bullet is a smaller size which makes it easy to apply more precisely. It has a creamy formula that glides on effortlessly, providing full coverage intense pigment in just one swipe. At application, my lips didn’t look dry – just healthy and supple.

True to Dior’s 3-minute setting claim, these lipsticks don’t budge. From kissing the back of my hand to eating a greasy pizza, my lips still looked bomb after 8 hours of wear. They didn’t feel too dry (although I always prep my lips with a hydrating balm while I get ready), the formula hadn’t settled into any lines, and the color had barely faded. I only noticed a bit of fading in center of my lips. But, for no touch-ups, I’m impressed by the longevity, texture, and feel of this Dior lipstick formula.

How It Compares: Dior Transfer Proof Lipstick is the one of the most long lasting lippies.

For the longest lasting matte lipstick, look no further than Dior Transfer Proof Lipstick. It’s actually transfer proof and wears without smudging, bleeding, feathering, and with minimal fading. What makes this bullet lipstick especially unique is its size – it has a smaller size which makes it easy to apply for precision and on any size lips. And we can’t forget about the shade range. Dior has an extensive range of 28 shades, often releasing limited edition shades too.

There’s another other lipsticks I love in the luxury beauty category too. The iconic Chanel Rouge Coco Flash is one of my favorites. It offers great pigment for the being a hydrating lipstick, along with an excellent feel and finish on the lips. It doesn’t dry out the lips or accentuate any sort of imperfections like dryness or fine lines. Of course, it isn’t your 8+ hour, no budge, transfer proof wear like the Dior lipstick.

The most similar lipstick to Dior Transfer Proof in terms of pigmentation and formula is NARS Powermatte. The bullet itself is slim and easy to apply with precision and high-impact color in just one swipe. It also has a matte formula with transfer proof, long wear claims. However, it doesn’t quite have the same longevity as Dior Transfer Proof. With NARS Powermatte, I only get a solid 4-6 hours of wear before it begins fading.

If you’re looking for a clean formula, unfortunately there aren’t many matte options. The closest formula I’d recommend is ILIA Color Block Lipstick, which is a satin formula. ILIA Lipstick has as a creamy, nourishing formula. It isn’t the longest wearing, with just 4-6 hours on average, but the longevity can be extended with a lip liner and topping with a lip gloss.
