Dior Foundation: Forever Skin Glow before the revamp.
Let’s be honest, Dior makes some beautiful makeup, but it is definitely a luxury investment. From the stunning lip products to their Backstage Contour Palette and one of my holy grail concealers, they make some of my favorite products. Of course, I had to try out the Forever Skin Glow Foundation, especially with all of it’s rave reviews.
Disclaimer: One thing to note, Dior recently (2022) updated their foundation formula to include two new patented formulas and finishes, matte and radiant. I tested the older version of Dior Forever Skin Glow.
Promises vs. Performance: I wouldn’t say it’s 24 hours of flawless wear.
Dior Forever Skin Glow promises up to 24 hours of flawless wear. It has a radiant finish on the skin, and claims a medium to full coverage. The formula does contain SPF 35 and skincare benefits that help skin overtime.
Since this foundation is a radiant finish that has a bit more of a liquidy consistency, I prefer applying it with a brush. For my test, I actually used the Michael Todd Sonicblend Pro Brush ($79). I love this brush because it is dense, does all the hard blending work for you, and doesn’t absorb too much product. As expected, it blended in the Dior foundation beautifully. I was left with a natural, radiant finish and a medium to full coverage that concealed my redness.
The only negative about this foundation is it can settle into fine lines. I found it didn’t matter if I wore a primer or not, that it settled regardless. And, I don’t think it has the 24 hour wear that Dior promised. Though, I would say it is still long wearing (8-10 hours).
Quick Rating Rundown
How It Compares: This isn’t my holy grail luxury foundation.
Dior Forever Skin Glow is a gorgeous formula that gives the most natural radiant finish. It evened out my complexion, concealing my redness easily with a medium to full coverage. The foundation felt lightweight on my skin and didn’t look cakey. Though, it can settle into fine lines, especially if most things have the tendency to settle on you (I didn’t find a primer helped this issue either). Dior promised a 24 hour wear, and, while I do think Forever Skin Glow is long wearing, it only lasted really well for the first 8-10 hours.
So, your favorite Dior Forever Skin Foundation got discontinued…
Or, like me, it isn’t your #1 luxury foundation – what now? Enter, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk (rated **** 4.4). This is my holy grail foundation no matter the category. It gives skin the most beautiful glow, working well with all skin types from dry to oily. The formula is a lightweight, buildable medium to full coverage. It truly lasts most of the day on skin without settling, caking, creasing, or breaking apart. Yes, it’s a bit pricey at $65 per bottle, but it’s worth every penny!
