Hide imperfections and brighten with TruBlend Undercover Covergirl Concealer.

I love finding high performing drugstore makeups. I’m always down for a good deal for myself, and to share. But, there’s so many to choose from and it can be overwhelming on where to start. Luckily, I’ve done a lot of the hard work for you. I found a Covergirl concealer that was part of Glamour’s 2020 Award-Winning Drugstore Makeup and, I got to say, I agree. This one is good. It’s blendable, it hides imperfections, and it’s brightening – all things I want in a concealer! Let’s dive a little deeper into what makes TruBlend Undercover great.

Promises vs. Performance: A matte concealer that is also brightening? I’m intrigued.

TruBlend Undercover Concealer from Covergirl promises an all day wear with full coverage. It features a velvety, matte finish that brightens and conceals. From dark circles to blemishes this concealer has you covered. Covergirl promises a creamy texture that is easy to apply. And, they claim the 30 available shades match 99% of skin tones. Incredible!

Using my favorite concealer brush ($16) from Rare Beauty, I easily blended in TruBlend under my eyes. It does set quickly and not have much playing time, so with the concealer that sat a bit longer I did take a dampened sponge to blend in and that worked well. I will say, the color are lighter and brighter than they look online, so keep that in mind when ordering! But, that means I had a nice and bright under eye area. I also used TruBlend to highlight my face since it was so brightening.

In terms of wear, I agree that this is an award-winning concealer. It gave me a solid medium to full coverage that lasted all day as claimed. It gave me a matte, yet brightened finish that was really beautiful on the skin. I think all skin types would enjoy using this, though I will say under eyes need to be prepped with a good eye cream or primer to prevent settling and creasing.

How It Compares: Maybelline versus Covergirl… Which is better?

I quite enjoyed using this concealer and am excited to keep playing with it. I was able to get a solid medium to full coverage that was easy to blend out with a brush. Though, it can set quickly so I recommend working one eye at a time. But, if it does set down some, a damp beauty sponge will blend it out. My under eye area looked brightened and awake, yet I still had the matte finish that Covergirl promised. TruBlend Undercover is a concealer I think would work for all skin types. It wears well and has little to no creasing even after a full day of wear.

Let’s compare to the iconic Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer. There are some similarities between the two, but also a few differences. Both provided a medium to full coverage that was lightweight and easy to apply. Instant Age Rewind covers dark circles while also brightening. My only gripe with the Maybelline concealer is the packaging. The applicator can be messy, and it’s hard to control how much product dispenses.

Milabu Beauty Method: Brighten and conceal with this Covergirl concealer.

  1. Apply your complexion product of choice. One of my drugstore holy grails is L’Oreal Infallible ($15.99).
  2. Using the doe foot applicator, apply concealer under the eyes. I recommend working one eye at a time, as the formula can set a bit quickly. Blend out using a brush.
  3. Now, let’s highlight the high points! Swipe the concealer down the bridge of your nose, on your cupid’s bow, and the center of your forehead. Using the same brush, blend out.
  4. Set your complexion with a lightweight powder. Coty Airspun ($5.79) is a tried and true favorite.
