ColourPop BFF Mascara Review
Let’s review BFF Colourpop Mascara: a bit of volume, some length, and decent separation. The drier formula is not flake free, and it is difficult to build volume.

“What, like it’s hard?” – BFF Colourpop Mascara
Colourpop has some great products for affordable prices. I love that they’re a fully cruelty free brand, mostly vegan, and are a cleaner option at the drugstore. Let’s talk about their mascara that promises to be your new ride or die, hence the name, BFF Mascara. It has a lot of claims, from volumizing to lengthening and a flake free wear. I’ve got to say, I usually love Colourpop eye products. So, let’s jump into ColourPop BFF Mascara Review.
Promises vs. Performance: A ride or die formula that does it all.
What can’t this mascara do? Because according to Colourpop, BFF Mascara can do it all. The formula instantly volumizes, lengthens, and lifts lashes. It features a unique twisted nylon brush that is shaped to comb through lashes from root to tip. The formula is said to be buildable and have a clump free application. And, when you need it most, promises to be there for your with no flaking.
My Review Thoughts: ColourPop BFF Mascara
It’s not that this mascara is terrible, but it’s not great. Even before the review, I noticed that Colourpop BFF Mascara has a drier formula that takes a bit of work to build up the volume and pigment. I will say, the application is clump free and pretty easy to apply, despite the drier formula. Though, I don’t get extreme volume or length. I get what is typical from a classic mascara with some extra length: my lashes look separated, full, and long.
But, with the drier formula comes flaking throughout the day. While this mascaar dooesn’t have much smudging or transfer, I do get mascara flakes landing on my face all day. I haave to be diligent to wipe away the flakes throughout the day to not have black dots everywhere when I wear this mascara.
Quick Rating Rundown
How It Compares: This Colourpop mascara isn’t my new BFF.
BFF Colourpop Mascara has lots of rave reviews, but I don’t find it to be that rave in this review. I will say, I do think I got a broken wand (it was very bendy and harder to control). The formula is on the drier side and is a bit hard to build volume with. It does have an intense black pigment and the dense bristle wand has an easy, clump free application. Unfortunately, I don’t get the best wear with this formula. I get a ton of flaking that I have to wipe away throughout the day. Like I said, a lot of reviewers love this mascara, so just because it doesn’t work for me doesn’t mean it won’t work for you!
Personally, my ride or die mascara is Maybelline Lash Sensational. I love everything about it, from the wand to the application to the wear. My lashes always look volumized and lengthened, with an all day curl. I get an all day wear that is free of flaking, smudging, and transfer.
If you’re looking for something more natural…
- Covergirl Lash Blast Clean Volume ($10.99): This is one of the best drugstore mascaras with a cleaner formula. It provides volume and length with a pigmented wear that lasts.
- ILIA Limitless Lash ($28): A bit more of a splurge, this is my favorite clean mascara formula. It provides so much length and wears beautifully.
