The iconic Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream will give you sun-kissed skin.
In 2021, Harpers BAZAAR named four classic Chanel cosmetics on its list, “The 100 Most Iconic Beauty Products of All Time.” Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream appeared among the powerhouse quartet including Le Volume De Chanel Mascara, Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour, and the singular Chanel N°5 perfume. No surprise that Chanel bronzer, with its unique gel cream formula, made the list. People claim this product provides a natural, bronze skin effect and boasts a gorgeous glow that’s nearly impossible to overdo. It’s a staple among makeup artists who paint celebrities for their red carpet looks. Les Beiges is praised as a tub of golden glow that on the skin radiates sunshine. That’s something stars like Olivia Culpo, who uses it on her face, neck, and eyes, can’t seem to get enough of.
I’ve long respected this product’s place in history as one of the first and best bronzers of its kind. But, here’s the scoop on its performance.
Quick Rating Rundown
Promises vs. Performance: Chanel Bronzer has a natural looking, sun kissed glow.
Chanel Les Beiges Bronzing Cream is a unique one with it’s cream-gel texture. Its velvet matte finishes gives skin a sun-kissed glow with natural radiance. A mix of mineral waxes and powders makes for an effortless application. Silica and soft-focus powders give cheeks a smoothing effect. This Chanel formula is lightweight and noncomedogenic.
I have Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream in shade 390 (Soleil Tan Bronze). To apply, I dab the bronzer slightly above my cheek hollows for a little depth, and then directly onto the underside of my cheekbones in an upward sweeping motion to give an overall warmth to my face. The color was very warm looking in the jar but worked better than expected on my fair skin. The shades’ versatility is a plus, especially given there are only two to choose from. This gel cream hybrid bronzer was radiant and set to a natural matte finish. It was easy to blend, and it gave me a that smooth, sun-kissed glow promised.
How Chanel Bronzer Cream Compares: The holy grail, luxury cream for glowing bronze skin.
Formerly known by the name “Soleil Tan De Chanel,” Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream is a cult classic bronzer that people have sworn by for years. Only now it features a more beachy scent and coconut oil, which is supposed to nourish skin and aid blendability. This product is creamy and buildable, bronzing and contouring is easy, never looking streaky, dry, or patchy. The formula is so forgiving, never looking too intense, but easily gives a healthy glow anywhere it’s used. Chanel Les Beiges is the best of high end bronzers for those who love a natural, radiant look. It’s everything one could want in a bronzer, besides the hefty price tag.
Is it worth its luxury price?
For my $50, I keep my options open, especially since there have been so many great cream bronzer launches since Chanel’s paved the way. Still, many wearers think the beautiful, long lasting warm glow they get with this Chanel bronzing cream is worth the cost. Fenty Cheeks Out Cream Bronzer and e.l.f. Putty Bronzer are both great options for cream bronzers that hit a lower price point. You wont get quite as much product in your pan but your wallet might thank you. Chanel Bronzer Dupe
Luckily, there is a Chanel Bronzer dupe on the market that has a slight edge. This cream bronzer is Colourpop SOL Bronzer, which lives in the drugstore price category. These bronzers are a nearly one-to-one comparison from formulation to application to longevity. Chanel has 3 shades, while Colourpop has a better range of 7 shades. They both apply super easily with a brush or damp sponge, but Chanel’s formula is more buildable. The finishes are similar, but Chanel’s is a little more sheer and skin-like. But, overall, Colourpop wins the battle with its bigger shade range and longer lasting formula.

Milabu BeautyMethod: 3 ways to achieve a golden glow with Chanel Bronzer Cream.
Perhaps one reason Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream is iconic is that it’s so flexible. You’ll look gorgeously glowy no matter where or how you apply it.
- Apply Les Beiges as a bronzer. For on label use, I dip a dense contour or kabuki brush into the product then dab it lightly onto my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose, across the top of my forehead, and on my chin. Use upward strokes to blend as needed.
- Apply Les Beiges as a contour. The beauty of this product is easy, natural looking buildability. Using your same dense brush, dip into the product, and then dab it just beneath your cheekbones. Continue to dip and repeat until you get the depth and definition you’re looking for.
- Apply Les Beiges for allover glow. Use a brush to swirl the bronzer lightly across your entire face and onto your décolleté and shoulders. Mix a tiny amount of Les Beiges with body lotion and apply the mix to your legs, arms, or anywhere you want glowing skin.
Tip: My ideal bronzer and contour brush has densely packed, but soft, bristles. A favorite is the Face Shaping Brush 125 by Fenty Beauty is a favorite. The angled shape makes it perfect for everything from subtle bronzer to stronger contour with cream product.
