I gotta say, I’m impressed with this Catrice foundation.
I’m up to try anything once, especially when it comes to makeup. True Skin Hydrating Foundation from Catrice sounds super intriguing: high coverage, hydrating, long wearing, and lightweight. How can this be?! I put it to the test and to see if all of these claims would or wouldn’t hold up. Much to my surprise, I was incredibly impressed with this Catrice foundation. Let’s review Catrice True Skin Hydrating Foundation.
Promises vs. Performance: Catrice promises A long wear, buildable coverage with a “real skin” finish.
Catrice promise their True Skin Hydrating Foundation will be just that: hydrating with a “real skin” finish. The formula is said to provide a buildable medium to full coverage while still feeling lightweight. The formula is free of drying alcohols, and includes hydrating ingredients such as watermelon seed oil and hyaluronic acid. And, it’s vegan!
My Review Thoughts: Catrice True Skin Hydrating Foundation
Wow, wow, wow! I’m super impressed by the coverage I was able to get from True Skin Foundation. It is a super liquidy formula, reminiscent of a serum, but it has a ton of pigment! I could get a full coverage from less than one full pump of product. It was really easy to blend and blended out super quickly as well. I used a brush at first, but because of the immediate full coverage I got, I did go over with a dampened sponge to soak in a bit of the excess and really melt the foundation into my skin.
As Catrice promised, True Skin Hydrating Foundation is lightweight and long wearing. Though, I did have some settling towards the middle of the day (however, this could be due to the Merle Norman primer I wore underneath). My skin looked glowy and fresh all day long without getting oily and greasy. I’m super excited to keep playing with this foundation. Overall, I’m really wowed me in terms of coverage and how it felt.
How It Compares: This is a winner, but is it the best drugstore foundation?

I’m rather impressed with True Skin Hydrating Foundation from Catrice in this review. It was lightweight, but had incredible pigment for a super full coverage. I will say, you do need to prep your skin with a more hydrating base since it has more of a matte finish. Otherwise, this foundation blends out super easily and gives you instant coverage, super quickly. My skin looked glowy and fresh all day without feeling greasy or oily. I’m definitely excited to keep playing with this foundation and would recommend it if you are on the hunt for a solid full coverage foundation.
On the other hand, I do still love my L’Oreal Infallible. Its a cult favorite that’s been around and performs well for so many people. However, it is heavily scented so beware of that if you are sensitive (less fragrance is something I like about the Catrice foundation!). Infallible gives you a full coverage that lasts all day with little to no creasing, fading, or transfer. It does give more of a buildable medium to full coverage, as opposed to the immediate full coverage with True Skin from Catrice.
Milabu Beauty Method: This Catrice foundation does require a bit of prep work.
- Prep skin with a hydrating base. Milk Makeup Hydro Grip ($36) is a great one that is both hydrating and gripping.
- Shake the foundation really well. Start with just one pump of the foundation on the back of your hand. Trust me, one pump is plenty!
- Swipe dot of foundation across your face, focusing more in areas you need more coverage.
- Using your preferred application method (brush or damp sponge), blend in the foundation.
- Set with a lightweight powder. L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable ($11.99) works really well.
