Quick Rating Rundown
Promises vs. Performance: ABH promises full-pigment blush and she definitely delivered with the Blush Trios.
Providing versatility, Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio features three cohesive shades that can be worn together or separately for a variety of looks – perfect for travel! Each blush is a finely-milled, blendable powder that provides buildable intensity. With a seamless finish, you can expect this blush to glide over imperfections and not settle into pores or lines. And to make it even more travel friendly, the compact includes a mirror for on-the-go application and touch-ups.
ABH promised Blush Trio to be full-pigment and, wow, she delivered! I barely had to dip my brush into the pan to pick up enough pigment for a pop of color on my cheeks. The pigment blended out smoothly without being patchy, gliding over any dryness and texture without settling into pores and fine lines. Even with how pigmented it is, I would still say this blush is buildable. A little goes a long way and it can be built to your desired intensity. Because of this, I got a long wear that didn’t fade.
I love how I can wear a combination of the shades or just one for versatile, endless cheek looks. I will say, it can be hard to pick up just one shade at a time because the pans are small, so I would advise using a smaller blush brush when applying.
One other thing to note is that the lightest shade in the palette I have, Cocktail Party, is too light even on my fair skin. It looked a bit chalky when I wore it on it’s own. For reference, I typically fall in the fair-light with cool undertone foundation range.
How It Compares: If you like to change up your blush, Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio could be for you.
ABH Blush Trio might not be the compact I reach for most often, but I can appreciate it being a solid option for blush. It comes in five different color stories, each with three shades ranging from light to dark and in matte, satin, and shimmer finishes. The versatile compact is perfect for travel with it’s convenience (it even has a mirror!) and endless cheek looks. The buildable pigment is blendable and easy too apply without looking patchy or exaggerating any imperfections. I will say, the lighter shades can sometimes be too light, even on fairer skin. I had to mix the lightest and middle shades to get it to work for me.
For three shades at $30, the value of ABH Blush Trio is solid – if you’ll get use out of all three shades. I recommend it for someone who likes to mix and match their blushes or someone needing to save space when traveling, but still wants multiple looks. I like changing up my blush as much as the next person, but I’d rather get one full size blush for relatively the same price.
NARS Blush is one of the best in prograde beauty.
With an extensive shade range (over 30!) and multiple finishes from satin to matte tot shimmer, NARS Blush has a color for everyone. For the same price as ABH Blush Trio, $32, you get the same amount of pigment (.10oz/3g). The finely-milled powder is buildable and blends easily for a sheer wash of color to a saturated pop. And, NARS is home to the universally flattering, iconic shade ‘Orgasm.’ Truly, a blush shade works for all skin tones, fair to deep.
