AmorePacific Color Control Cushion Foundation Review
AmorePacific’s cushion foundation gave my skin a healthy, glowy look. It looked like my skin, but better! Though, it didn’t have the longevity I was hoping for. After about six hours, it began wearing off.

With the help of this cushion foundation, skin is protected and complexion looks flawless.
What the heck is a cushion foundation? Think of it as a liquid foundation housed in a sponge, tucked away in a compact for convenient and mess free portability. Color Control Cushion Compact is a top rated cushion foundation from AmorePacific that is said to both look and feel luxurious on the skin. AmorePacific is one of the largest Korean beauty brands and is a pioneer of including green tea in makeup and skincare products. I’m always excited to try beauty from other parts of the world. And who doesn’t want to try makeup infused with Korean skincare? After all, Korean skincare is some of the best!
I tested out this cushion foundation to see how it looked and applied, smelled, and, of course, how long it lasted. Let’s dive into the AmorePacific Color Control Cushion Foundation review.
Promises vs. Performance: AmorePacific’s cushion foundation features exclusive technologies.
Get buildable light to medium coverage and protection against UVA and UVB rays with Color Control Cushion Compact. AmorePacific promises this product will deliver “hydration of a tinted moisturizer,” as the formula is infused with bamboo sap for a dewy finish. With an SPF 50+ and antioxidant rich green tea, your skin is protected from rays that cause sun-induced skin aging as well as environmental aggressors.
Review Thoughts: AmorePacific Color Control Cushion Foundation
This cushion foundation features a could different technologies exclusive to AmorePacific as well. First is an exclusive technology that fills in lines and evenly builds coverage in light layers for long lasting, controllable coverage. Second, Compact Air Cushion Technology features a patented foam with over 800,000 cells that hold the formula in place.
Here’s how it wore and applied.
Taking the included puff, I pressed into the cushion to pick up some product. Amore Pacific suggests applying by patting the product into the face. I was shocked at how easy this product gave me a beautiful, luminous medium coverage. It felt a bit sticky as it applied to the skin, despite not having any tacky/grippy base on. The way this foundation looked and sat on my skin was how I want my complexion to look all the time: even, glowy, and smooth.
Color Control is not the longest wearing foundation. It isn’t transfer resistant and wore unevenly across my face. My forehead was looking super shiny and my fine lines were super exaggerated. In some areas it looked crackly, especially around my nose and eyes. Around my mouth, it was moving with my face, but you could see the foundation just kind of sitting on top of my skin. It no longer looked melted in and as skin like as when I first applied it. I think it wore beautifully for the first six hours or so. My thinking is that pairing a makeup extending primer and setting spray would keep it looking great longer. I’ll have to report back on that.
How It Compares: If you’re looking for a cushion foundation infused with skincare benefits, I’d look into this one.
Byrdie composed a list of what they think are the best cushion foundations on the market. This one took the cake and I can see why. It applied easily and quickly, giving me an effortless medium coverage. A few of imperfections, like freckles and some redness, still peeked through, but I looked more even. I loved how it looked like my skin, but better! I had a healthy, luminous glow and my skin was protected.
But, the downfall came with the longevity. AmorePacific promised long wear, but, I did not get that. It wore really beautifully for the first six hours or so, but then it became sort of “meh.” There were elements I liked, like my cheeks still looking healthy and glowy. But, there were parts that didn’t wear so well, like my forehead. I was super shiny and oily, while all of my fine lines were exaggerated. Around my nose and eyes, the foundation began cracking and separating. And, around my mouth, the foundation didn’t look as melted in, but rather like it was sitting on top of my skin.
I will say, if you love Korean beauty and are looking for a cushion foundation (and don’t need the longevity), I’d check this one out. Though it sounds a bit spendy at $75, you do get a foundation refill included in the price.
Milabu Beauty Method: Make it last.
- First, prime skin. One of my favorites to extend makeup wear time is Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer ($56).
- Before applying the foundation, let your primer sink into skin for a few minutes.
- Taking the included puff, lightly press into the cushion compact.
- AmorePacific suggests applying by patting the foundation into skin. I find that swiping motions also work well.
- To build coverage, pat foundation into specific areas. Pick up more product out of the compact as needed.
- Now, lock everything in with a setting spray. To keep my complexion looking fresh and glowy, I prefer a spray over a powder. Hourglass Veil Setting Spray ($48) is one of my favorites for a natural makeup look, and it helps makeup last longer!
