This Almay blush has a fool-proof formula.
So, you’re intimidated by blush. I get it. We’ve all been there. Blush can easily be overdone – one swipe too much and you’ve got hot pink clown cheeks. But, you’ve gotta have some pigment to achieve that healthy flush of color we all want. If makeup isn’t something you spend a lot of time on, or you don’t want to think about your application, you need products that will work for you in this regard. For blush, Almay Healthy Hue is a great choice. Not only is it one of the most fool-proof powder blush formulas at the drugstore, but its also great for sensitive skin.
Promises vs. Performance: Healthy Hue promises buildable pigment.
Almay Healthy Hue Blush is made for sensitive skin. The hypoallergenic formula is dermatologist tested, cruelty free, clean, and fragrance free. It includes ‘high-pigment technology’ for buildable color payoff so you can go as bold as you like. Almay promises a lightweight feel, and that this blush will be easy to apply and blend. Healthy Hue comes in 4 shades for a healthy, natural glow.
This Almay blush isn’t your bold, vivid cheek color, but it does give a natural flush. Healthy Hue has a soft powder texture that applies seamlessly onto cheeks. It disrupt the makeup underneath, nor does it look patchy. However, I don’t see how it has ‘high-pigment technology’ as Almay claims. To get bold color payoff, you’ll really have to layer this blush on. I will say, the flush it gives my cheeks is stunning and very natural. This is a fool-proof, user friendly blush that can be applied without much care or precision (perfect for on-the-go gals!).
Even though I was impressed with the longevity based on the claims, I wouldn’t call Healthy Hue the longest wearing blush. While it doesn’t settle into lines and pores or cling to dry spots, it does begin to fade after around 6 hours of wear. This wouldn’t be the blush I reach for when I need my cheeks to stay vivid for an all day or night wear.
Quick Rating Rundown
How It Compares: What’s the best blush?
I’ve got to say, I really do enjoy this Almay blush. Healthy Hue’s formula is incredibly easy to work with its buildable, smooth pigment. It does have a smaller shade range, but I think the 4 shades it comes in are stunning for a natural flush of color. Where this blush really shines is in the formulation. Its hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested, making it perfect for even the most sensitive of skin.
With a better shade range, more intense color payoff, and longer lasting wear, e.l.f. Primer-Infused Blush takes the win as the standard blush in the value price category. For a drugstore blush, it is high performing in all areas, from formula to application to wear. Its buttery soft texture is easy to apply and doesn’t dry out skin. Plus, the primer-infused formula means your cheeks will stay vibrant all day long, no matter what life throws at you.
While not my favorite, Almay Healthy Hue does have some perks, landing it on our list of The Best Powder Blush At The Drugstore. This is one of the most user friendly blushes at the drugstore, with sheer buildable pigment that is nearly impossible to over-do. But, we’ve also selected our favorites for longest lasting blush, best shade range, most iconic, and more.
